I got a really LOW quote for a string trio.... and it scares me...

3 performers for $495 to do our pre-ceremony and wedding mass at my local church in queens.
About 1.5 hrs total.

Did your string trio cost wayyyyy more or is this about right?

The other quotes i'm getting run closer to $1000 for the same thing, so i'm skeptical...

Are these the ones who got thrown out of 'band camp'?

I'm only having a violin and piano for the ceremony, so for 1 hour. It's through my DJ, so I don't know how much that effects the price, but I'm paying about $650-700 for the hour.

I would think it would cost more, from quotes I've gotten. Maybe you just picked a good company and got lucky!

I'm paying $650 for mine--capriccio ensemble--and that was one of the lowest prices I received. There was one for less, but in the demo cd, I could hear the difference (used to play viola).
The $650 is Capriccio's special rate than basically means you can choose from their repetiore and they won't have to learn anything new. Since I'm getting married at a church, I can't go too unique w/music anyway. Capriccio has a great reputation.
Definitely listen to a demo of this company and do some searches on them.

WOW Magbride thank you!!!! I have definitely heard of Cappriccio, I'm going to check them out too!!! WOW I knew you were a class act, 'used to play viola' i LOVE that. I survived 9 years of piano lessons... so the ceremony music is really important for me!!!!

Happy, the quote came in through gigmasters.com which is basically an agent that sends out your request, and gets available groups in touch with you. I think the trio was Royal Violins and they were open on my date, but I cant vouch for them, as i've never heard them anywhere. Try gigmasters.com and see what you think!!!!

Thanks!! I'll give them a call! I used to be a violin player but haven't played in so long that I probably can't tell the difference. ha ha....wish me luck.

i used Capriccio also and they were AWESOME...had a similiar rate from them as well. Natalie is a freaking sweetheart to work with!

i did receive a quote from another company that was similiar to yours---BUT i felt more confident in natalie & Capriccio. sometimes paying for peace of mind works in situations like this

That does sound very low. We used Vintage Sting Quartet for our ceremony only (and they played intro music as people were seated) -- they were FANTASTIC! FM me for pricing. I highly recommend them. They were punctual, professional, and played beautifully!

Wow i'm not sure??? But what a great idea!!! I know lots of brides have used the Vendors helping brides board on here, if you know what you want you'll get replies from LIW vendors, that might help!!!

Sometimes, if you book directly from the musicians you can get lucky, however, at 1/2 the normal price, with no inside information, the price would scare me. I would ask for references.

I am amused, personally being someone who was thrown out of band camp. Not due to my performance, but due to my love of the kickline.

Seeeee that's EXACTLY what i'm thinking... i think i'll stick with Capriccio!!!!

OMG too funny about band camp!!! I never went but i'm sure i WOULD have gotten kicked out. Not for performance, but because I was easily distracted by cute BOYS.
