i got my first interview for residency!!!!!

i got my first interview for residency!!!!!

just had to share - fh and i are last year med students, and we just submitted our applications to residency programs late last night. by this afternoon, we both had an interview!

we are SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats.. where is it for? My SIL just recently started her residency in Emergency Medicine at Bellevue and my brother will eventually have to do one.. but he's an MD/PHd student, so he still has a while! I know my SIL was so stressed out about interviews and stuff.. good luck!!

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How did they ask you so quickly -- don't they review your record? What kind of doctors do you both want to be?

thanks for all the congrats!!! just wanted to say how grateful i am to all of you for all the support, always...

fh and i are both very excited! we got 5 more interviews today, one of which is one of our top choices! so we are SO psyched, not to mention relieved that at least some programs want us

we are both applying for medical residency in psychiatry. i know, i know, kids with 2 shrinks for parents turn out crazy...

i'm not really sure how it happens, to be honest. the generally accepted truth is that there are a few criteria that put your application into a sort of 'screen immediately' pile. just not exactly sure what those criteria are, or even if they're the same across programs... but my impression is that once you meet the criteria, they review at least some of your application. i'm sure this is true for at least one program, cause the director spoke to me directly today about my personal statement (at least SOMEONE read it)...
