I got verbally abused on an airplane last night (long)

Original post by shelzyp

I was int the second to last row, and a lady and her kid sat behind me. The mother was already mad at the kid, blaming the child for the having those seats, since the got to the airport late.

SO for the first 1/2 hour the kid was kicking the back of my seat hard. I let it go for a while, figuring she would settle down and go to sleep. Well it didn't stop.

I turned around and asked her nicely if she could have her stop, it was starting to hurt. She then proceeds to tell em that they ahve no room, and we have our seats back, and her daughter is trying to ge comfortable. I told her we don't ahve our seats back, and we have no room either, but it hurts. so I turn around and try to deal. She keeps kicking the seat, and I can't put it back,a nd am so uncomfotable. I couldn't take it anymore, so I put my seat back, after about 20 minutes.

The lady flips, starts yelling at me, telling me they ahve no room. I told her she keeps kicking me, I am uncomfortable and need to put the seat back a bit. She turns to her daughter and tells her to continue kicking me seat!!! And then says how can you punish a 7 year old, like this, blah, blah, blah. She then yells at us for tlaking, calls my DH fat and tat he keeps jumping in the seat, and pushing the tray table into her.

Then when I told her to shut up, that no one wants to hear her, she says she hopes we never have children since they will be brutalized. Then tells me that I should act my age not my weight!!!

Okay that makes no sense, obviously i ahve to weigh more then 27 lbs, so it was a complement. She called the steward and wanted us ot move our seats up.

He spoke to her an then us, and asked us if we wanted to move, and told her she had to sit there, and deal with it. Then at the end of the flight, the steward told us he was sorry that we had to put up with her.

Everytime I ave flown southwest, I swear half of the plane preboards.

My SIL asked if she could preboard since she had her wedding dress as carry on, they were getting married at Disney, and they gave her a hard time, meanwhile they let people with 12 year olds preboard.

I guess that woman didn't 'Catch the Spirit'!!

If you need a reason to pre-board, I'll lend you Nicky...

She is lucky she didn't catch the spirit of my hand across her face.

The last time my dad and Patrick were about 1 second away from a fist fight!!

I assume with someone else and not with each other

Would love to hear that story!

Glad you said something...she shouldn't be able to get away with her immature behavior!

To make a VERY long story short, sitting in front of Patrick and me was a man and his wife (about our age) and an older man who looked and smelled like he hadn't showered in about a month. As we were taxiing, the older man jumped up and started screaming at the younger man that his legs were 'violating his space'. He was screaming and screaming at the younger man about his rights as a passenger while the younger man just sat there looking bewildered. FINALLY the flight attendant came over to see what the problem was, and the older man was in such a frenzy that all he kept saying was 'Look at him! He's at least 5'10! That's MY space!!' The FA tried to calm him, tried to help him change seats, but the man wouldn't move. She touched his arm in what I guess she meant to be a comforting way, and he moved to punch her. With that, the younger man, Patrick, and my dad (who was across the aisle) all jumped up to interfere, as security came over and escorted the freak off the plane.

I always wondered what happened to him...
