I got verbally abused on an airplane last night (long)

I was int the second to last row, and a lady and her kid sat behind me. The mother was already mad at the kid, blaming the child for the having those seats, since the got to the airport late.

SO for the first 1/2 hour the kid was kicking the back of my seat hard. I let it go for a while, figuring she would settle down and go to sleep. Well it didn't stop.

I turned around and asked her nicely if she could have her stop, it was starting to hurt. She then proceeds to tell em that they ahve no room, and we have our seats back, and her daughter is trying to ge comfortable. I told her we don't ahve our seats back, and we have no room either, but it hurts. so I turn around and try to deal. She keeps kicking the seat, and I can't put it back,a nd am so uncomfotable. I couldn't take it anymore, so I put my seat back, after about 20 minutes.

The lady flips, starts yelling at me, telling me they ahve no room. I told her she keeps kicking me, I am uncomfortable and need to put the seat back a bit. She turns to her daughter and tells her to continue kicking me seat!!! And then says how can you punish a 7 year old, like this, blah, blah, blah. She then yells at us for tlaking, calls my DH fat and tat he keeps jumping in the seat, and pushing the tray table into her.

Then when I told her to shut up, that no one wants to hear her, she says she hopes we never have children since they will be brutalized. Then tells me that I should act my age not my weight!!!

Okay that makes no sense, obviously i ahve to weigh more then 27 lbs, so it was a complement. She called the steward and wanted us ot move our seats up.

He spoke to her an then us, and asked us if we wanted to move, and told her she had to sit there, and deal with it. Then at the end of the flight, the steward told us he was sorry that we had to put up with her.

And the best was that after we al got off, she was walking 15 feet in front of her daughter, and then walked right by me, saying to her daughter, where is that lady i want to to find her.

People on airplanes are really scary. I've seen a few meltdowns in my traveling experiences. The last row does s*ck because you cant put your seat back but there were obviously other seats available if the steward was willing to move you so the mother should have asked earlier to change seats. But she sounds like she was too dumb to think of that. Sorry you hear you had to deal with that I would have flipped. I get tense being cooped up with people and their issues on planes, there's just not enough personal space.

And people like that have kids... Yeah, nice!

Surely the daughter will grow up to be a lovely young woman, poised and intelligent! right!

she sounds like she has major issues!!!

that was so rude what she said to you and your DH!

I'm glad the airline hostess moved you and not her!

I have never heard of anyone who actually experienced air rage! What a nut job. How can she be blaming a 7 year old from making her late to the airport. A 7 year old would be on her mother's schedule, not her own. I can't believe she didn't have her daughter stop kicking your seat. And we wonder why children have no manners anymore.

Sorry you had to deal with that. As if being confined on a plane for several hours is not bad enough.

Some people just don't know how to behave.

They wouldn't move her, they offered to move us, but we didn't want to since our luggage was above us, and the overhead was filled. We jsut sat there and the mom and daughter switched seats, even though during the switch they pulled on my seat. Poor DH, the kid was kicking him then.

She was also yelling at her kid to put her coat on at the end, and she didn't listen, but I was making a 7 year old suffer by putting my seat back.

I also loved how she said she would my kids would be brutalized, when she could care less about hers. I could not believe in Lagaurdia, you would let you 7 year old walk 15 feet behind you.

It drives me crazy when I see a child walking so far away from their parent that you can't tell who they belong to.

I used to work at the Smithhaven Mall and I can't tell you how many times I would see a small child walk out of the store and hang a left or a right while there parent was still shopping, totally unaware. I would seriously chase these kids down while yelling over my shoulder to a coworker asking them to find the kid's mom. Most days I felt like part babysitter. Like the time I had to fish the sharp piece of a sensor out of a little girl's mouth because her mom failed to notice that she crawled under the counter to the register and picked it up

With all of the sickos in this world, people should pay more attention to their children. Aren't there enough horror stories out there?
