I graduated from Precana

I graduated from Precana

Brian and I finished precana last night. From all the negative things I have heard from other couples and on the board we were so pleasantly surprised. We really liked it. It was in a couples house and they were so nice. We both felt so comfortable talking and sharing. The other 3 couples were great too. So what did I talk about during break time...of course LI Weddings...haha. They had never heard of it. I almost fainted. I got their emails and sent them the links...lol.

Oh and my favorite part was when they had us face each other and hold hands and say our vows to each other. They wanted us to hear them and really think about the meaning now while we are not in front of everyone and really nervous. It was so sweet. All the ladies were crying. But it was awesome looking into Brian's eyes and seeing how happy he was looking at me. Ahhhh truly a special moment. Can't wait for the real thing on 10/15!

So to everyone who has heard some negatives about precana we had a great experience.

Yeah it was really fun. We learned some new techniques...like when you start to fight...hold hands...

But really I can't imagine planning a wedding without LIW!!!

Brian was hoping for a famous yankee to be in the precana class. He told the class yesterday about Mike Piazza being in Maxine's precana. They were all jealous!

Re: I graduated from Precana

Is it true they discuss 'positions' in precana?

That is the biggest rumor I have heard...we don't start until May....

Re: I graduated from Precana

No not at all - that is a total rumor.

There was a section about spirituality and sexuality but nothing even close to racy was discussed.

Someone was telling me that the priest discusses positions..I was pretty freaked out about that idea!

Thanks for clearing that up!

Re: I graduated from Precana

so glad you enjoyed it! We did the one day pre cana out in long beach on saturday. If you're looking for a painless pre cana - this is the one! 11am til 3:30, which includes a pizza break, plus two 20 minute breaks. Deacon John runs it and is adorable - talking about his wife Patricia - who is also there. He talks about marriage, fights, etc.

the one thing my pre cana didnt have that yours did, Kim, was interaction. We didnt talk at all. Not a word except for preliminary introductions. . . I would have liked some discussion, but I also wanted the one day option, so I shouldnt complain too much.

Did you have to watch a video where different potential situations were played out and a married couple would then talk on screen about how to solve problems? It was so funny, though i doubt it was meant to be. . . it was right out of another era - with people talking about women doing housework, the men being 'the breadwinners,' etc. Such a waste.

That's great Kim! We enjoyed ours too!

Do you think they tell you to hold hands when you fight so you feel the love, or is it just so you won't swing at eachother??

We had a great experience too. They even threw a party on the last night. I think my favorite 'excercise' was when they told us to close our eyes & hold up the number of fingers for the # of children we want and then opne your eyes and see what your fiance held up. I was suprised to see him hold up FOUR!! I held up three. I have a feeling we'll end up with two. But, all in all, it was a great experience. The only bad part was that it was on Wed. nights during Yankee playoff season. That was tough!
