Ok so yesterday I was doing about 50 on the Grand Central on my way home from work when the oil light and the battery light came on and the car just stopped. I managed to get on to the shoulder, start the car again to get it to the mechanic. It seemed I had a bad leak and the oil ran out and the engine almost seized. We thought it was repaired and we were going to nurse this thing for a year until DH finished paying off HIS car loan so we wouldnt have to pay for two at once.
Well guess what. We may have to pay for two at once. The silver bullet (my car's nickname) was a rat-tat-tatting all the way to and from Brooklyn today to the point where I felt incredibly unsafe and people were staring at me because my car made so much noise. I took it back to the mechanic who basically declared it dead and useless to repair. It would cost us close to $3K for a motor and with a car that has over 105,000 miles on it, it just was not worth it.
The timing sux as we were planning to start a family soon and may need to put it off. I just need a hug and a few tissues. So sorry for the sob story. Can someone buy me a megamillions ticket?

That does suck!!
But IMO I would never put off TTC for a car or a car loan (or a bill for that matter)...we only have but so many fertile years, while money can always be made (and there are always little surprises ). Life is full of tests...you'll get through this!

I agree with the above statement. There is always something that come up in life that we don't anticipate. I am not sure posponing the family plan is a good idea.

As Sasha knows, my parents would have celebrated what would have been their Golden Anniversary this Saturday. Mom is hanging in there but its rough. She told me today, when i was whining about the car that sheis grateful that the days are longer so the nights alone arent so hard. Ladies, my heart was breaking for her.
