I had a wedding on Saturday

I had a wedding on Saturday

in Baltimore and let me tell you, it's so different when you go to a wedding outside of NY. Everything was OK but I wasn't wowed at all. This was FH's cousin and his uncle has $$$$ so I was thinking Platinum Weddings style. Not so much. They only had about 6 choices at the cocktail hour (one was a raw clam bar and to me the audience for raw clams is very limited so why even bother), no choice at dinner (everyone got a steak, crab cake, potatoes and asparagus) and they had a chocolate fountain allllllll the way in the back of the room which was pretty big they had about 240 people and didn't announce it! 90% of the people didn't know it was there (I spotted that bad boy right after we walked in lol). They didn't give out favors either. So the moral of the story is, I'm very happy that our wedding is going to knock her wedding's socks off

Her colors were Tiffany Blue and white and I have some pics if any Tiffany girls want to see them.

We did have a good time with all of FH's cousins and everyone. I even got him to get up and dance and practice for our wedding lol I was just surprised with how the party was and then there were people leaving saying that it was the best wedding they had ever been to. And even though there wasn't a choice the dinner was really good! lol

I once went to a wedding outside of NY and they had bowls of fish crackers on the tables as apps.

Yeah I agree, I've been to a few upstate weddings and even though I had an amazing time it was NOTHING like our weddings. My best childhood friend is coming from Germany to attend my wedding next year (I still cant believe she is doing this ) and I was explaining to her the basic plans for the wedding (I wanted to keep a few of things a secret to surprise her) and she was blown away She told me that most ppl in Germany dont have a wedding reception. Only on LI would we spend the equivalent of a house down payment on a party

btw this is exactly why my parents were pushing for a US-NY wedding instead of Israeli one. they wanted the whole luxorious elaborateness that they do here.
I now also love the fact that I am having my wedding here, really nothing that compares to here and the way weddings are planned out

I know what you mean - I thought we were going to have a lot to love up to after this wedding but there won't even be a comparison after our wedding!

Re: I had a wedding on Saturday

Now that i live in Texas and FH's friends are all from here I have been going to many different kinds of weddings... And you are right, we do things way different!

Down here in the south, did you know the bride goes for portraits of herself before the wedding. And then they have a huge blown up picture of the bride in her dress as you walk into the reception. I of course had to ask.... 'And what do they do with that after?' Its supposedly the Brides parents after. I was thinking to myself If I walked into my parents house and saw a 3 foot picture of myself I think I might run the otherway.
