I had my amnio yesterday!!!

Just wanted to let everyone know that I had my amnio yesterday, and it was virtually painless! It took all of about 10 seconds, and it didn't hurt any more than if I were having blood drawn from my arm. They say that afterwards, you will probably experience minor cramping, but I was lucky - no cramping whatsoever. I just relaxed the rest of the day, and felt absolutely fine! Now, the waiting begins (two weeks) to get the results!

By the way, the baby is now 8-9 inches long already!!! I pray that everything is fine!!! I'll keep you updated!

Glad to hear the test wasn't too painful.
Look forward to hearing about how you and the baby are doing. Did they do a sonogram yet?

Oh Lauren, I'm so glad everything went well!!! Where did you go for it? I'm going for mine on Friday and I'm very nervous (not the test, but the results). How long do you have to wait for the results, about a week or so?

I'm glad to hear the test went well. I can't believe you have to wait so long for the results. But I'm sure it will all be fine. keep us posted.

As I'm now living in Stamford, CT, I had the procedure done at the Stamford hospital, which (thank goodness) is part of the Columbia Presbyterian Hospital system. In fact, my doctor at Columbia recommended my doctor in Stamford to me, and he's the one who performed the procedure.

Now, we have to wait two weeks to get the results (we are not finding out the sex of the baby, even though, to my surprise, I wouldn't mind knowing ahead of time). My husband really doesn't want to know, so I'm giving him 'that'.

I'm due September 7th.

Thank god everything went well with the amnio. The hype surrounding that procedure has me shaking in fear for when my time comes. I know I will need to have it because we've had some physical issues on both sides of our families with pregnancy and childbirth. Your words are very reassuring. Thank you so much and I will say a prayer that everything is fine!

Thanks for posting, I'm getting one on the 9th of April and am terrified. Thanks for making me feel better! I'm sure your baby is perfectly healthy!!!
