I had my first call about kids at reception

AT WORK TOO!
W T F is up w/ people? FH and I decided that age cut off was 15 unless in bridal party. Call was from a friend who has two sons 8 and 11 and who isn't comfortable leaving them with a sitter.

I am dreading these calls. But you have to stick with your decision, and just say that you needed to cut it off because of space, other kids, etc. Whatever the reason, it's YOUR reason and YOUR wedding. People need to realize that just because their lives revolve around their kids (as it should to an extent), yours DOES NOT.

And why is she not comfortable leaving them with a sitter??? Has she no good friends or relatives they could stay with for the night????

8 and 11 - isnt that a little old to not feel comfortable leaving them with a sitter? i could see if it was a newborn but 8 and 11 can practically take care of themselves! especially an 11 year old!

Sounds like your friend must have never gotten a baby sitter in 11 years. If she can't understand that you are tight on numbers and budget, then maybe she is better off not comming at all.

LOL there are people who get married at 18!! They are an adult! That poor 18 year old adult must have been embaressed- or it was a lame excuse from the parents.

My ring bearer is 5 and he is so out of control and spoiled that he refuses to stay with a sitter and my FSIL basically lets him dictate her life. There will only be two other children from the bridal party at our wedding and they will be getting picked up by a sitter around 10 and taken home to sleep. Because my FSIL says her son will not go with a sitter, she will be basically leaving the wedding early to go and take care of him (because he will most likely get tired and throw a fit).

Exactly! My FG's are 3 and 7 - will be at reception until dinner and then leaving to go home with their sitter for the night. That planning worked out perfect, but my MOH is their Mom, so she understood!

The only children at my wedding are going to be my son (jr groomsmen)and daughter(FG)-

I put on the bottom of my invite ADULT reception to follow service.

But I know I will get at least on call on this~~~ there is always one in the family..

Guez the only reasoning I would ever accept on that is if the children are mentally challenged. Or (forbid) attempting to be a chemical dependency and can't be left alone.

Besides that, for goodness sake you expect an 18 year old to have enough sense to be alone at night, if not they are not doing something right in the raising department

My daughter is a flower girl and she is getting pick-up after the wedding. I have an evening wedding. I put and ADULT ONLY CELEBRATION on the bottom of the response card. We had to set a couple of people straight.

I mean I wouldn't take a child to a club...

I have a few guests on the list who have children in the 2-10 range and were very excited to have a night out without them I know you can never assume anything b/c we all have our own parenting styles

I agree the difference in parenting styles...I just refuse to pay for children-but that's a personal choice also.

I hate that and am waiting for a select few once my invites are out. I have a 10 year old. Never will he join me to a wedding... unless he's in it! Agh...
