I had the BM from hell...LONG

I had the BM from hell...LONG

I am doing this one separate from the wedding review because I really did have a wonderful wedding and I don't want this to tarnish the review.

By popular demand, here is the BM from hell saga: (Let’s just call this bridesmaid JILL)

At the engagement party, she insisted on bringing her boyfriend. They broke up shortly thereafter.

But, the real drama started at the bridal shower:

My shower was fully paid for by my mother. My cousin, matron of honor, handled all of the favors, assembled them, handled all of the centerpieces, and took care of the guest book and decorations. My bridesmaids wore red dresses (with silver beads) to the wedding, but since I love pansies, my mom and cousin had my shower with all purple pansies and purple decorations.

Well, as soon as Jill walked in, she announced that she thought she was in the wrong place and why was there purple everywhere…she announced that “It should be red!” She then walked over to the pansies and flicked them with her finger. She told my cousin, “You should have called me and asked for help.”

Later that day, Jill and her brother’s fiancé went to the bathroom, stole toilet paper and airfreshner and stuck them in the gift bag from my MIL. Ha ha ha…very funny joke. I just can’t stop laughing.

Jill was the VERY last person to pay me for the bridesmaid gown. Jill did nothing but complain when I told her that she needed to get shoes that covered her feet, so that we could follow the rules of my church. My mother paid to have the shoes dyed.

Instead of altering her gown the proper way, Jill folded the fabric on her shoulders and pinned it. So, Jill had two chunks of fabric on top of her shoulders.

For the shower, rehearsal dinner, and wedding, Jill had to be reminded to send in her RSVP.

Now for the rehearsal: Jill held up my husband when it was time to head over to the restaurant, asking him to drive other members of their family. There was no room in our car and Jill didn’t want to drive them. (these were also her aunts and uncles who flew in from Italy)

At the rehearsal dinner, I gave out the bridal party gifts. I spent A LOT of money on my bridesmaids. And, I also paid for them to get their hair done. Well, as soon as Jill opened up the box with the 14k white gold earrings with garnets, she announced, “these are not going to work, my earring holes are too big for these.” So, I had to spend a few minutes discussing with Jill that she needed to wear those earrings. She then went to my cousin and my MIL complaining about the earrings and saying, “so you’re not going to wear them either, right?”

I then saw that Jill had my 11 year old niece carry Jill’s suitcases up to her hotel room. I repeatedly stated that I did not want my niece walking around the hotel alone. Then, Jill told me that my niece was going to spend the night with her, and her other cousin (also a BM). I said that I did not think it was a good idea because my niece had been very difficult all day. Jill insisted. I told Jill to call me if there were any problems because I would come and pick her up right away. I then said “goodnight” and jokingly yelled out, “ok, party in my room.”

So, after the pipes in my hotel room burst, I called Jill to let her know that I was changing rooms. I few minutes later, my niece walks in. So, it turns out that Jill saw my friend in the hallway of the hotel and left my niece with her. When my husband called Jill to find out what happened, Jill said that she left my niece WITH ME! So, that’s when it all got ugly. We spent HOURS arguing that night. It was the night before my wedding! My niece was upset and ended up sleeping in my room. Jill said that I handled the bridal party very poorly because I emailed them and I should have spoken to them in person or on the phone. So, final we ‘resolved’ things and went to bed. At 2 o’clock in the morning.

The day of the wedding: Jill harassed the hairdressers and they complained to me about her. By the way, the hairdressers work for JILL’S UNCLE, and they still complained to me about her anyway!

Jill refused to take off her yellow gold jewelry, stating “ I spent a lot of money on this jewelry.” Finally, we were able to get her other cousin to persuade her to take off the yellow gold jewelry because it clashed with the silver beads on the gown.

The photographer had to repeatedly ask for smiles. As in, he had to stop what he was doing and lecture the bridal party about looking angry in pictures. When he said, “It’s going to look like you’re mad at the bride,” Jill started laughing.

Jill took the pink hairclips that were supposed to be for my niece and stuck them in her own hair.

At the ceremony, Jill was seen scratching up the rose petals in her bouquet. When my maid of honor told her to stop, she pulled out the petals and stuck them in the bible!

After the ceremony, Jill decided that she belonged in the receiving line. She announced, “this is my family too!” (so I guess they weren’t the day before, when they needed a ride?).

So, Jill got behind me and my husband and stuck her head between ours.

On the steps of the church, Jill was seen sticking up her middle finger during photos.

Jill delayed the limos from leaving the church because she was trying to get her brother, his fiancé, her mother and father, in the limo because Jill thought that there was plenty of room in the limo. (My mother paid for the limos!)

When Jill got into the limo, she saw my niece and yelled, “were you crying last night?” My niece was petrified and said, “No, I wasn’t upset, they made it all up.” When my friend tried to correct Jill and tell her what really happened, Jill yelled, “ That’s all I needed to know.”

At her dinner table (which was mixed with other people who were not in the bridal party), Jill announced, “this is ridiculous, the bridal party should be sitting with the bride and groom.”

Then, she interrogated the best man’s girlfriend and his sister. She asked the girlfriend, “Why are you here? You’re not engaged.” When the girlfriend said that she forgot her ring at home, Jill yelled out, “stop bulls***ing me. You’re not engaged. You don’t have to lie.”

Then Jill moved on the best man’s sister and asked, “where’s your boyfriend.” When the sister said that she’s not dating anyone, Jill wanted to know why not.

Later that night, Jill and her brother’s fiancé were yelling at my best friend/maid of honor. They were calling her a liar. When my best friend brought my MIL over to hear, Jill started to behave.

At the end of the night, Jill took the centerpiece home with her. She then encouraged her mother, brother’s fiancé, and another cousin to run around the room and grab other centerpieces. So, they took centerpieces off of other tables.

After that wedding, my MIL called Jill to tell her that she was very horrible during the wedding. 3 guests told us that Jill did nothing but try to make people miserable. Jill said that I was a bridzilla, but that she’d still like to come over and talk things out. I haven’t heard from Jill since the wedding.

Jill is 34 years old. She is my husband's cousin.

***eta: I see my famous post is back

We still haven't spoken to Jill since our wedding- except for her brother's wedding.

Jill got drunk at his wedding, ran outside and threw up in front of the hall. Then, she came back inside and told everyone that she got food poisoning. (which is possible, considering the hall was on the news for having the worst food/health violations possible- but, I still think it was from her being drunk)

Oh, and when it was time for her brother's family photo, she came to our table to say, 'if you still consider yourselves to be members of this family, we're taking a picture downstairs'

We did NOT go in the picture (we were seated by ourselves at the last table anyway, the rest of the family was at 1 table- except for us)

OMG!!!! What a b!tch! I wouldn't even bother 'talking' things out. I don't see that there's anything to work out between the two of you. Be cordial towards her when you see her, but avoid her when possible. I'm floored for you right now!

Write her off. With friends like that, who needs enemies???
You're better off without her....

Wow!!!! I definitely would try to sever ties with this person. She sounds like an absolute nightmare with major issues!!! I am glad, in spite of all this, you managed to keep cool and enjoy your wedding!!!

Wow! Well first congrats on your wedding.

Second, I am so sorry that you had to deal wtih this, but I feel so bad for Jill- think abotu how pathetic and empty her own life must be. Clearly she has no idea how to deal with other people. You are happy, married to the one you love, and she is stuck with her own miserable self. Not to mention it sounds like she completely humiliated herself.

you are a lady who dealt with this individual with grace and dignity. You should be proud.

It sounds like she is family- you know what they say- you can't pick your family.

First of all, CONGRATS on your marriage an what otherwise sounds like a lovey wedding

As for 'Jill' .. well this might have been one of the most horrifying stories I've ever heard about the behavior of a BM ... just awful. I really sympathize with you, she just sounds like a bitter, selfish, horrible human being.

If I were in your shoes, I'd totally write her off.. not sure how sticky that is for you (if she is family or not), yet this was simple inexcusable behavior.

Good Luck and again, congrats on your wedding! Hoping to hear your POSITIVE wedding review in the near future!

I am SO sorry this happened. She OBVIOUSLY has mental issues.

I would never talk to her again - and I would not feel guilty about it either. There is no reason whatsoever for someone to act like that - EVER. Especially on your wedding day.

Dont let her upset you any further. I am sure everything else was beautiful and everyone had a good time.
