So this morning FH's cat comes out from under my bed and starts meowing to be pet...so of course I start petting him. When I stop he hisses at me, which he has done occasionally since he's gotten here and usually it means that he's pissed that I stopped petting him so I started to pet him again...THEN HE BIT MY HAND!!!! He pierced a vein the top of my hand...there was blood EVERYWHERE. I/my apartment looked like a slasher film busted through...blood on me and on the floor and my bath mat....ugh. It STILL hurts...I think he hit my nerve because it hurts all the way up my arm.
Stupid F*CKING cat...I was pissed so I went out and bought a pair of shoes (something FH forbid me to do haha) I told him that I deserved it because I almost bled out from his stupid cat.
FH said he has never done that before...now I'm concerned that he'll do it to FSD...and I don't know how she'll handle it because when he did it to me I was bawling like a baby for a good 15 minutes.

i grew up with lots of cats some of them were sweet as pie and others were little b*stards!!
fh cant stand cats but he loves kittens

spray the cat with water if he does it again or shake a can of pennies, this usually scares them and won't do it again.

Sounds like the cat is jealous or needs more time to play. DO you know what breed of cat it is? I grew up with a cat and he could sometimes be sweet and sometimes nasty. A spray bottle with water helps. Good luck!!

He's a pure bred persian...I have empty spray bottles I guess I will have to keep one around.

just keep a watch on the bite FMIL got bit by a cat on Halloween this year and she had alot of problems becasue the cat hit a nerve.
I like cats to a point but its usually other peoples cats.

Honestly this is my biggest worry because I am having pain up my arm and on parts of my hand where there is no bite...what happened with FMIL? I hope its not a permanent thing

so sorry that happened. i tell FH that his cat bites me all the time when she is hungry. she has never cut me before though so i guess i am lucky.
maybe you should just try to not pet him anymore. the spray bottle idea may work, but some cats will also hiss at that so maybe not such a great idea.

she is ok now but since it was a cat of the neighbors she had to get rabis shots and now she is going to sue the neighbor for pain and damages. She was really scared and afraid of her own cats so sad.

i use spray bottles on my dog when he starts barking it works so well haha

We just moved in together and the cat had a really traumatic trip from Ohio to here (like...a 15 hour ride in the cab of a moving truck with no kitty valium or anything) so maybe he's like having PTSD or something...I don't know. We were planning on getting another cat down the road but I guess we'll have to move it up because FH thinks the cat is lonely with us gone all day...but I can't live with a cat who hisses at me and bites me. I hope it works out because I'd feel like a jerk if I made him get rid of it...

That sounds a bit inhumane...I would bite people too after a trip like that!!!!

I had a psycho cat when I first met FH. She was always rather moody, not a friendly cat. Anyway...she hated FH. I think because when I lived alone, she used to sleep in my bed, and then FH moved in and took her place. Anyway, she used to hiss at him, and hide out under furniture and jump out an attack him for no reason! The craziest thing she ever did was when we first moved in, we had just moved our mattress in and had it on the floor temporarily...the cat sh*t on his pillow!!! We tried to get the cat to like him, he is an animal lover, but this cat was nuts...needless to say I had to find her a new home.
