I hate food shoppping is there anyone else

out there who hates it? Fh and I hate to go. Its so funny b/c we try to bribe each other into going.

I can't stand food shopping. It's a pain in the arse. Especially when you go on the wrong day & theres no meat so you have to go back again!!!!!!

I go into a coma-like state when I am there - just like a crazy woman wondering around the supermarket with a blank stare.
I would NEVER send FH .... the last time I sent him he came home with S&S brand ice cream and a monster Package of cheesy poofs that went int the garbage two months later because we dont eat them (neither of which were on the list I provided him with). He tells me they were on sale - ????

I'm a freak - I actually love food shopping

But I can't stand the other people in the store - you know the ones that go in different directions then everyone else, leaves their carts in the middle of the aisle, etc.

I guess today wouldnt be a good day to go then b/c there is no good meat? I am looking for a way out. LOL. We have nothing in my house to eat. Maybe I will stop and pick up a few things.

I actually looked into a food shopping service but they didnt have anything by me. How bad is that!

I like it too I liked it even more when I had my own fridge to stock up. Now I have a tiny space on a shelf.

I love getting my 'staple' foods, then looking for ideas of differenet creations.

I love to cook. If I could I would open up my traveling healthy cooking business. I come you with meals already prepared, or will teach you to cook them We can even do squats and dips while it cooks

ok.. Jenny you're scaring me!

I love to cook.. normally love to shop for food. But with our tight budget I cringe.. We try to get in and out as fast as possible spending less than $25 a week for food.

We use the HandyShopper program on the palm.. map out what we need. punch in the costs as we shop.. tally up the tax.. and are prepared at the register. People always look at me strange when I whip out the palm (clie) hehe

I would have to live on pasta, soup and chilled cheese.

My veggies alone cost more than that

We live off Steak, corn, rice, pasta, sauces, tatertot family (Depends if we have hot dogs or hamburgers once a week) and/or we do soup.

Steak is our main food. It's like $3 a night. So that's $15, corn I buy surplus when it's on sale.. but averages about $3.50 a week. FH's grandmother grows green beans (ew) and tomatos (yeah). And seeing how it's a Chinese household, rice is bought in bulk. So add coke and you're about $20. We usually buy a soup or two then add tax and its around $25.

We go to eddimens (spelling way off there) outlet on Jericho Turnpike for breads on Saturday.

FH is amazed how much money I can save up. hehe.. im a determined kind of gal.

PS: I spend only $10 a week for lunch money at the office.. and I work in Midtown!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh I hate it as well. The local supermarket just started delivering for a small fee so the delivery man is now my best friend.

WOW $10 for lunch mid-town, when I was at wall street only think I could do for $10/wk is the pretzel guy.

Thats not fair of me.. my office has a cafeteria.. I pay $1.98 for a half wrap (made my way) with carrots on the side.

I bring in my own tea.. one bottle lasts me two days and I also bought bulk baggies of chips (24 snack size for $6) when they were on sale. So.. lunch is under $2.

Its rather funny for us because we like wine and used to buy a bottle of chardonnay every week (its good for my tummy) our dinners used to be shrimp with pasta or mussels in a garliky butter sauce with fresh grated cheese and parley. Even our off days were rosemary chicken with asparagus (when in season). I used to always have dove chocolate ice cream miniatures in the freezer. We used to spend soooooooooo much money on groceries.. now..
$25 a week.

I don't mind it...I like to go around and look at the ingredients...if I let DH do it...he would get all the famous names...

or my father who buys food based on if he ows stock in the company...

you havent heard my favorite dessert to make..

fudge brownies with double dark chocolate chips (Ghiradelli - sP?) and white chocolate chips (same maker) topped with walnuts, cooked purposely in a smaller pan to make them extra thick.

FH is in withdrawal from those.

That and the lemon cake with butter cream icing.

or the pineapple cake with pineapple chucks inside and buttercream topping..

or a quickie:
sliced bananas with crumbled vanilla wafers topped with Bryers Cherry Ice Cream and drizzled with chocolate syrup (not too much)

ETA: going home now (or at least starting to head that way - LIRR) .. see ya later.

I like food shopping, but I try to go when it's quiet and empty. I HATE standing on lines no matter what store I'm in. Food shopping is FUN. They always play that funkee muzak! LOL

What I HATE is unpacking the bags when I get home. I DESPISE it!!
