OK, first of all, X, you said 'corn' WAY too many times.
Secondly, $25??? Dude, I need to start shopping where you shop. I do all the food shopping, because when I bring FH with me, we wind up with way too many impulse purchases in the cart and a $250 grocery bill. I try to keep it at or under $100 per week, but sometimes I can do that every two weeks, but we go through soda like it's liquid crack (FH is a Diet Coke freak), so I always have to get soda at least once a week...and rarely walk out with just soda.
BTW, your desserts sound as good as some of the desserts that I make. When I was studying for finals in law school one semester, I went on a baking spree as therapy and we wound up with about 6 varieties of cookies and cakes that couldn't be eaten quickly enough by FH to last. And I make a mean tiramisu!

Cool! I'll bring the spoons!
OK, OK, I'll bring sporks!
We also have the car thing in common, although you are way more into it than I am. I used to work at Sears Automotive though, so I know more about cars than most chicks! And my dream car is a '56 Bel Air.
But back to the food shopping, are you a coupon cutter or what?

not coupons per say... but I shop at walbuams.. so I go online and puruse their flyer before I go shopping.. and I SERIOUSLY stock up on stuff I know I'll use.
Coke 6 for $4.. I buy like 12 or 18 (keep going back through that week
Corn haha 5 for $1.. I bought like 15... (they don't go bad!)
I found those chip thingies.. 2 for $6 so I bought two bags.. that 24 days worth of lunch chips.. I can live with that.
I only use coupons for stuff I would have bought anyway.

I go to Waldbaum's, too, and check the circular online first, but I guess things are just more expensive in Queens and Brooklyn. I pay ridiculous prices for produce (at least compared to some of the great prices on LI), so I can spend $25 on fruits and veggies alone. I also buy a lot of low fat dessert type thingies (Weight Watchers or the like), and those are kind of expensive, but worth it to not gain weight (not that it's helped lately). Maybe I should start shopping at the big ass Stop N Shop in Hempstead by my office on my way home from work. It's got far more food and is probably cheaper. And I've got the 'club cards' for at least 4 different supermarkets.

Jann.. you crack me up.. we just got back from that S&S right now.
When I lived in Queens I'd shop on Saturdays in Westbury's Walbuams.. I HATED HATED HATED those nasty bodegas in my neighborhood.. and those Trade Fairs and Key Food were ridiculous.. only C town was decent in comparison to those.. and that's not saying a whole heck of a lot.
It was a pain to park and drag all the stuff in.. but worth every penny. Shopping in Long Island meant better selection and usually better prices.

Re: I hate food shoppping is there anyone else
I drool when I walk into that Stop n Shop! It's so new and nice and BIG!!! I could spend 2 hours there, easily. Every once in a while, I go there to get lunch when I'm in need of food and use up most of an hour just wandering around.
I'm really disappointed with the supermarkets here...especially the one in the Bay Terrace Shopping Center. One would think that it would be a much nicer store, but nope, stinks. So I use the one in College Point.
I can't wait to have a house in suburbia.

Just promise you won't make me buy any corn!
It's expensive, but oh so pretty! (Yeah, I said a supermarket is pretty...I don't think I need to reiterate that I'm a freak!)

I hate food shopping too - and it's even LESS enjoyable with a toddler trying to throw things out of the cart as fast as you can put them in there OR opening the packaging as you are shopping
But, since I am a SAHM, this is one of my primary responsibilities.
