I hated house hunting also. At first it was fun and full of potential but most of those soccer mom agents do not know anything except how much commission they will take, not earn! I would not tell them that I was a contractor until I toured a house and listened to all their cockamammie b.s. I am glad its over. Best of luck.

We are not all like that, I spend a lot of time with my clients and work very hard for them. You know, there aren't that many careers out there where you work tons of hours for someone and are still never guaranteed to make money. Please don't generalize the entire industry. Every agent works differently!

We are not all like that, I spend a lot of time with my clients and work very hard for them. I agree with Misha. I have seen pushy agents but I have to say that most of the agents I have dealt with were very nice. The agent I worked with was a family friend and she was amazing. She got an idea of what we liked and didn't like. I told her that there was one style of house I HATED and didn't not even want to look at any of those or consider, even if it were in a great location or in perfect condition, they just didn't do it for me. She never once showed us those houses and respected our likes and dislikes. She was patient with us. Spent every weekend with us for a month, driving around the area looking at houses. Did she know that she would get paid for all that time- NOPE! What if we had given up and decided to stay in our apartment or move out of state, then she would have just worked with us for a month straight and had gotten nothing out of it!
At the open house for the house we bought I met another agent that was working for the reality selling my house (not the listing agent) and I have to say that she is so sweet. We have talked on the phone several times, trying to hook her up with other friends that are looking and she is so nice!
I think REA are like any other industry it takes a while to get your feet wet and really know what you are doing. But I would rather have a 'soccer mom' from the area that knows it and knows the schools and how the community is show me house then just some random person.
