I hate how commercials are so much louder than the programs Im watching!
It should NOT be allowed! I am sick of sitting here with the remote while everyones sleeping. Do they really think by making it louder they are going to do anything but piss me off?

Know why they do that?
Because people tend to leave the room during commercials - to the bathroom, fridge, etc, and they want you to be able to hear the commercials.
I take care of it all by pressing mute as soon as the commercials come on!!!!

I usually do that too. I just hate that I always have to be 'on guard' Believe me once I get Gabe to sleep I wont let anything wake him up

i knew that there was a simple explanation for this. FH just thinks i keep the tv loud and i tried to tell him the commercials were actually louder than the shows, but he just nevert believed me. now i have some proof in black and white! thanks gals!

This will only happen on cable & satellite. The FCC has a regulation about this enacted in 1996 stating that no commercial can be 20% louder than the highest decible recorded in the previous segment of that TV show. However, since most people have cable or satellite (generally speaking), they can get away with it.
