I have been doing work all day so I am ready for Tuesday. Every year I feel so nervous and I never feel confident. I hate this.

haha i was bored and planned my math for the next 2 weeks... my friend and i need to do some planning tomorrow.. we are coteaching this year
What grade are you teaching this year?
1st grade
i taught 1st grade last year and this year again but im in CTT

Yes, I'm in Staten Island. We start everything on the first day too. We even start test prep the first. week!

How many days can we stretch out rules, routines, and textbook distribution?
thats coincides with our math program so we will be doing that in math

We also do our rituals and routines through our first units of reading, writing and math.

oh true because the kids have to get used to the 'workshop model' so its going to be a lot of how to get books, sitting ont he carpet, turn and talks. all that fun practicing stuff!
oh the boredom!!

Honestly we have a unit, the first 30 days, which teaches them to do all of those things!

Stinks because there is no room to take a day for fun. The kids have to jump right in.

At my school we are allowed to do the routines on Tuesday and Wednesday. Also, it works out best because we follow the Treaures program, which is 5 days long. So, Thursday. Friday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday and then a 4 day weekend!!!!

uhh i hate it too! im planning all day tomorrow! anyone have any ideas what to do with their kids the first week? lol other then rules and routines, i have no clue what im going to do with them!
I am playing this sort of get to know you game the first day or two...I am not sure though that it would help you out...what grade do you teach...I teach 7th and 8th grade...let me know and I'll give you my ideas...I do not want to go back yet...I am still in denial with less than 24 hours to go

Treasures is a Balanced Literacy Program. We just got it also!

We also do Balanced Literacy but through America's Choice. My principal got rid of all of our set programs.

It is horrible, we had a system, now we have a bunch of Teacher's Editions.
