Ok, so I had a baby March 5. I ordered my dress in like December. I made a HUGE mistake & didn't pick my 'dream dress'. I picked the dress that would hide any imperfections (aka 'if I was still fat.) One thing: I have lost 40 pounds since having the baby!!! When not pregnant, I wear a size 4 or 6 in street clothes. The bridal shop encouraged me to order a size 16 dress 'just in case'. I'm back down to my normal weight. I went for my 1st fitting & left feeling very... melancholy. For starters, the dress FELL OFF me. I had to hold it up or it would fall to the floor. There is going to be enough fabric left over to make a fricking bedspread. Secondly, its a pretty dress but its not my dream dress. In fact, even when she pinned it, I wasn't wowed.
The wedding is June 2. Now, money is tight and this dress wasn't cheap but I am seriously considering buying a new dress off the rack. What do you girls think? I will try to attach pictures.

OMG so not worth it! Try to sell your current dress as is - then get your skinny azz to Davids or even better - a local sample sale and get something your size off the rack! YOU CAN DO THIS!
Get your dream dress! I will ALWAYS regret not getting mine.... I loved my dress but I will forever dream about that damn Lazaro dress I tried on. Stupid! I should have went with my gut!
GET YOUR DREAM DRESS! You only get married once and as I have learned about 4 things matter the most - your dress, the food, the cake, the music.
Everyone spends all day looking at YOU, eating, looking at the cake and dancing!

I do not think the dress looks bad at all. It is simple but with the right accessories and hair and makeup I think you will look gorgeous. However if you really hate the dress start looking for a new one.

my personal rule of thumb is: if you don't love it, don't get it. def start looking around for another dress, you might luck out!

My FSIL got a dress off the rack and was so unsure of it, but it was like a trunk show and she either had to buy it or not, that she looked so depressed after she got it. I thought it was BEAUTIFUL but she just didn't see it and it was like 10 sizes too big - so hard to judge what it'll look like when its all altered. It wound up being perfect and she was sooo happy. Alterations can work miracles. No one would love a dress that is hanging off of them...
If you really aren't feeling it, don't waste the money on alterations. Try to sell it on here or ebay and use the money for a new gown!

If you are that unhappy with it, I think you should look for a new dress. This is your ONE day so it is worth it to buy a dress that you love and never want to take off.

I think the dress is beautiful...it is hard to 'love' it before it is altered. I didn't have a baby, but I went through the same feelings of HATING my dress and shed many tears. It wasn't until my final fitting that I loved it.
However, if its not your dream dress, and you really want the other one, and you have the $, what's to stop you?
What is the cost difference between the alterations and the new dress?
I bet its not that much....alterations are expensive!

personally, i would wait for the alterations- once it actually fits you, you may feel differently....BUT if you were only 'ehhh' about it to begin with and just chose it cause it looked good when you were preggers- i say start shoppin!

First of all it's a very pretty dress, but I understand you not feeling the 'wow' factor... you have to feel that. Secondly, at your size I think it would be a cinch to find a dress off the rack that will fit! And it won't cost as much off the rack!

If you don't love it---try getting one off the rack! The woman at my wedding salon said if you put it on, and it doesn't make you cry (in an amazing way) it's not your dress! This is prob. the one time where I would say ---don't settle! You'll never get this opportunity again!

It's worth getting one that is your dream dress ( and ordered in the correct size). I know money is tight, but you will be sooo happy you got the dress you've always wanted.

I say if you hate it that much and aren't happy then don't pay for the alterations... just get urself your dream dress. You wouldn't want to regret it later and now is the time u can do something about it.

If you are unhappy, look for a new dress asap, but maybe make plans to alter your dress if you can't find something by a certain date. as for the $$, how much will it cost to take it in that much? It will probably be pretty expensive anyway, and you may end up paying not much more for a new dress. I am sure you could make a few bucks selling a brand new (beautiful) dress on ebay or here. And btw, you look AMAZING for just having had a baby last month!!!!!! Good luck!!!!!!
