Ok, so I had a baby March 5. I ordered my dress in like December. I made a HUGE mistake & didn't pick my 'dream dress'. I picked the dress that would hide any imperfections (aka 'if I was still fat.) One thing: I have lost 40 pounds since having the baby!!! When not pregnant, I wear a size 4 or 6 in street clothes. The bridal shop encouraged me to order a size 16 dress 'just in case'. I'm back down to my normal weight. I went for my 1st fitting & left feeling very... melancholy. For starters, the dress FELL OFF me. I had to hold it up or it would fall to the floor. There is going to be enough fabric left over to make a fricking bedspread. Secondly, its a pretty dress but its not my dream dress. In fact, even when she pinned it, I wasn't wowed.
The wedding is June 2. Now, money is tight and this dress wasn't cheap but I am seriously considering buying a new dress off the rack. What do you girls think? I will try to attach pictures.
if you really hate it why pay for Alts?! I say go out ASAP look for a dress off the rack and see whats out there! There are some beautiful dresses out there for a decent price!!!
By the way you look great for just having a baby!! I say show it off!!!

maybe it's a June 2nd thing... I just wend for my second fitting last night and left feeling the same way - except mine was too tight...
If you don't love it go for a new dress. I think it's lovely and will look beautiful once it's fitted.

I do not think the dress looks bad at all. It is simple but with the right accessories and hair and makeup I think you will look gorgeous. However if you really hate the dress start looking for a new one.

I do have to say I love the dress ~ yes it is WAY to BIG for you.... you still have time for alterations if you don't find something ~ Go look...
WOW congratulations on losing the weight QUICKLY WOW unbeleivable! You go girl! I remember when you were pregnant how nervous you were not to lose it!

Honestly, if you feel this way about your dress now, then don't pay for the alterations. If you were pinned in it and you still didn't FEEL it, then I would look for another gown. You can sell the one you have, but for right now, just put your energy into finding another one that you LOVE LOVE LOVE!
Trust me! I am a THREE dress bride........so I know how you feel! You need to feel BEAUTIFUL in your gown......not OK

I am a two dress bride myself. I bought my first one right away and then hated it. I spent the extra money and bought a new one, the first one I bought was not the style that I really wanted. You dress is pretty and it can be altered into something more fitted, but if you are unhappy with it look around and see if you find something you really love. Its your wedding dress and if I was not in love with my dress, I would be crying on my wedding day.

I know the bridal salon in manhasset was having a sample sale 70% off. You can try and look there. Maybe you will find something. If your not happy with it go and look for another dress. It's your day and you want it to be perfect. ANd if you are having second thought then I would look around.

don't pay for alteration, ebay the gown (size 16 is harder to find on ebay, and many girls need that size, so it will sell quickly), and get something off the rack at RK bridal....
but you really have to do that within the next couple weeks!

Personally I think the dress is beautiful (yes it's simple but still beautiful, and yes it's huge on you, but with the alterations it should look perfect!)
Congrats on losing all that baby weight so quickly! That is really commendable!
Now, the bottom line is that our opinions don't really matter. YOU should feel like you love your dress and how you look in it. If you honestly think that after this dress gets fitted to you, you still won't like it, then like the other girls said, don't pay to have it altered - just go out and look for THE dress of your dreams and get that. Then you can sell this one.

I agree if you dont love it then its not worth the money its going to cost to alter it into something that fits.
If you sell the dress and make back some money it will make it easier financially to buy another dress.
Just make sure you are happy with your final decision!

Exactly what I was thinking
Do not settle on the dress.. you will always regret it. Beg, borrow or steal.. (ok..dont steal! ) if you have to and get your dream dress!

Alterations were capped at $250 so I am going to get it taken in but start looking around JUST in case I still hate it. My next appt is in 2 weeks. There is a place up here called Designer Bridal Outlet that sells gowns off the rack. I went there before & they had gorgeous gowns. I think I need another trip there....

yes def check them out.. there samples are a size 10 ususally and are from designers like amsale, kenneth pool, vera wang... and prices are just around the $1000 mark.. i remember trying a couple on when i was there....
your dress is beautiful but i feel like the alterations may get expensive because theres a lot of work... shop around then decide.. you have time..

I think that dress will look very nice BUT you have to love it (and it really doesn't sound like you do ). If you feel like its worth putting out money for another dress, I say go for it.
And WOW for losing the baby weight, good job! you look great!
