I hate people who don't help themselves!!!!!

Original post by MrsD71208

Yup, said hate. I hate hearing about people who whine about this or that, but really don't want to do anything to make it better. Go to school, get an education, get a real job or better yet, a career and then enter the real world of living!

Don't you hate people that seem so helplessly lost???? It drives me freakin' insane!!!

Amen
I'm with you on this one -- too many people complain and effin moan about their situations but do NOTHING to make things better for themselves -- or worse, they actually do things to sabotage the little good they have going on. Or how about when they are jealous of what you have but absolutely refuse to do what you did to get it? w t f ??????
I've learned to tune that crap out.

i agree with the venting here cause i see it every day but i have to tell you the one thing that bothers me about it is this:

'I don't get how people think that they are going to work a mediocre job that any HS student can get and expect to live an 'adult life''

cause i have that kind of job and think i do just fine with it. I didnt finish HS ( personal reasons) i didnt go to college , i have supported myself since i was 16 pretty much and lived on my own....i really think its all in a presons mind set not so much their job JMO

I agree. I worked part-time during college waitressing, bartending and occasionally doing small modelling jobs when I could get them.

I had friends who would complain about not having any money but didn't work because they 'didn't have time' -- meanwhile they would play video games all day, procrastinate, go out 5 nights a week.

I think some people just like to complain.

ITA...my FH owns his company, went to college, but some of his BEST, and star employees just have a HS or GED diploma...there are some jobs that you dont need to have a degree and you can move up and get promoted and the PERKS!!!! His employees get soo many perks i cant even begin to tell you!

And what about all the college graduates out there, in 100k plus debt and they come in to our company looking for a job, and want like 80-100k to start just cause they have a bachelors.

Totally agree. What's right for one person isn't right for another. As long as you can support yourself, and you're in some way contributing to society it doesn't matter what your job is.

To the original post, I think that sometimes people NEED to hear 'get a job' or 'do something about it if you're not happy.' One of my BMs has the whining-syndrome and one day I told her, 'Look, I'm saying this because I care and because I want you to be happy. You need to quit yer b!tching and start doing something about it. Only you have the power to make yourself happy.'

Tough love? Yes. But sometimes people just need to hear that they're wallowing.

A lot of kids out of college are lazy and feel they DESERVE to start tiers above everyone else when they start at a new job. Some of the attitudes of recent grads are pitiful. I'm not saying ALL of them...but there are quite a few that feel like - 'Hey, I graduated college. Everything should be handed to me now.'

Give me a break.

Yup, i do all the interviews here for FH's company, and let me tell you, its people with the actual work experience that end up getting the positions, because they know what hard work is. Most not all of the college graduates do think they should start out with higher salary but have no real work experience.

ok well, I do feel the way you do sometimes...HOWEVER, not everybody has the opportunities to go back to school...or to go in the first place.

My sister got financial aid to go to college, my parents helped her with the rest. When the time came for me to go to college financial aid would no longer offer assistance to my family even though their financial situation was the same as before. Plus my mom was a single mom and needed financial help so she charged me rent to live in her apt. I was paying $400 a month to live in her apt plus paying my own bills at the age of 16...that didn't leave me with enough money to pay for my own schooling so college was not an option. I had to get into retail bc its the easiest field to get into without education...i worked my way up the ranks to management and I do ok, but its still a struggle. I bust my *** at my job...I'm a very hard worker...I wish I could make more than what I do but unfortunately I'm going to have to continue to bust my *** to the top because making more than i do now in a different field would require further education.

not that i go complaining about my situation but I'm not THRILLED with living paycheck to paycheck either. I did what I could and theres not much more I could have done. when FH makes more money he plans to send me back to school...but until then...it's a struggle and it's not really my fault.

ETA: I just got an offer to be sponsored to become a financial advisor...theres a possibility that I could have made a great deal of money...but It's not what I see myself doing...I have no passion for it...should I have sold my soul and gone for that just to be in a higher class and make more $$ but give up my dream of owning my own boutique? at least my MEDIOCRE job in retail management gives me the skills i need to run a business and manage payroll vs. profit.

i know, it just irks me when people automatically think people who work certain types of jobs didn't do enough, prepare enough or care enough for their future. when I'm in a better place financially, I'd like to get my internet business started again and if it does well enough I'd like to open a store-front. I mean...hell I'm sure any high school student could have my job if they worked hard enough but even still with all the struggling...I'm paying a mortgage on a home on the border of rockville centre which is not cheap, paying for our own wedding among other things...but still people prob see me at my job and think 'any moron can do this job' I bet more than half of them would quit after the first day bc its not easy running a 3 million dollar business. and some of the people who think that way get to sit on their arse and mess around on the computer instead of doing real work and think they have the right to judge others just bc they may or may not get paid more or have an education.

Honestly...I didn't WANT to go to college because I saw so many peers go to college and still come out dumb as a doornail working a crappy job. Why should I pay tuition for someone else to teach me what they learned from reading a book. for that I'll spend less money buying the book that that professor learned from and teach myself.

I agree with you Angl. I do have a college degree, but I work for a small company and don't make tons of money. I make a nice salary, but certainly nothing to brag about. I really like my job and the people I work with. I worked all through college and didn't spend money I didn't have. I have money in the bank, no school loans and no credit card debt.... so my smaller salary doesn't really hinder my lifestyle that much. Danny works in finance and makes a lot more than me, but he works longer hours. I don't feel inferior at all.

I appreciate anyone who is a hard worker, no matter if their hard work involves studying for exams or climbing the ladder at their current job. What pisses me off is people who complain about their lifestyle but do nothing to change it, not the ones who take what they have and work hard to make the best of it. Even having your bachelors degree doesn't guarantee you a job that could support you comfortably, it's a tough world we live in, work ethic is really the only thing that counts, so kudos to all you hard workers on here.
