I just finished my Master's so now it's time to pay back my loan. $254.11 a month!!!!!

I pay $130 a month. April will be $230 a month. Then it goes up every year. I will be done when Im 42!

$1000 a month? Thats insane! Where did you go to school?
Makes it almost not worth it... unless you can land a salary of at least 100k.

Well, I went to a private school for undergrad but the loans weren't too bad since I got a lot of money for testing well and then NYU for law school at $50K a year is what really did me in. Luckily, I got a job that pays a lot of $$ but it's going to be rough trying to pay for the wedding on top of the loans.

Holy crap! We make good money too but I thought $254 was bad! $1000 a month is like a Mercedes car payment

My loans come out of deferment in Dec. I am not looking forward to the additional $700-800/month. Thank god DH has another 2yrs before he graduates law school bc I'm sure we'll be paying about $1300/month in loans between the two of us.

I know and that's what really pisses me off when I'm still driving my Hyundai from college. America's best warranty and all, but still...

I was paying about $150 a month before I consolidated/refinanced my loan a few years back at 3% ... I now pay $70 a month until the wedding then I'll just bang it out within a year because I want it gone!

I paid for 4 years of Hofstra. My loans are now $383 a month- consolidated. If I didn't consolidate it would have been $900 a month.
It STINKS and I hate it and I kick myself for not going to a SUNY school. But then again if I didn't go to Hofstra, I would have never met DH. But whatever. I just sigh and send out yet another check.
I can't tell you how hard it was to save for the wedding AND pay this friggin' thing. Thankfully now I can throw some extra money into it now that the wedding is over.

Dont feel that bad....I went to a SUNY and I will be paying off my loan for another 15 or so years!

Very true, I'd still be paying for college loans regardless, but Hofstra cost me over $100,000. I would have saved at the LEAST $50,000 by going to a SUNY school.

DH graduates law school this spring - we are dreading those loans he is way over 100K our friends all have 800-1200$ payments from their law school loans.

That's why I went to Temple instead of Georgetown! The thought of $50k per year for 3 years scared me to death... so, now, I come out of law school owing about $50k - about $140 per month... my advice to all - CONSOLIDATE!!!!
