FILs made their list... 112 people we have 100 people and my parents have 50 ... SORRRY lady your not having more people the the bride and groom!
my parents are willing to pay for 200 people. 50 for them, 50 for the outlaws, and 100 for us. fair.
FMIL decides that its not fair, and they should able to invite all their friends and family. so I said ok you are more than welcome to invite them, you just have to pay the difference... well they want to cut now..
if they are so important to you tht you want them invited and its ok for MY parents to pay, WHY oh WHY are they not important enough for YOU to pay
cause your cheap!

I never really understood why parents feel the need to invite their friends to their childrens weddings. Its one thing if the bride and groom know these people but if we dont then why in the H*LL would we want them there?!?!? UGH I just dont get it...

I agree! I have friends where their parents' friends were all there... it's kind of weird unless they really know and love the bride and groom as well. But well if the parents are paying I guess who cares! In your case, yeah that's annoying... I would tell them your parents will only pay for a certain # and show her the numbers.

he said a wedding is about the families.. great, but ive been around for 11 years, they cant be THAT good of friends with you...
fmil, if you want to have your friends for a big party, then YOU throw the big party... my parents should not have to pay so you can seem like a big shot

OMG, I am dying of laughter.... and I thought *I* had problems. I definitely would say you get X amount of people for your list and that's IT! Put your foot down... your parents shouldn't pay for your future in-laws to have a party with every one THEY have ever met in THEIR lives.

Yea that can be so stressful and its not fun at all....but i would just tell her listen this is NOT your wedding and i would ask the FH if he can talk to his mother and say that she needs to back off a little ...b/c they r not cheap

Are we supposed to ask our parents who to invite? lol we made our own list, and asked if there was anyone we left off family-wise.

So we met last night and I almost choked ffil out. He goes ' well your mom said they were paying and wanted you to have a princess wedding an we were never told a number (which is true, but I also said make a list that we can cut back from). tHEN after fh said they need to cut back ffil goes ' well what are we suppose to do start paying for heads!!
Ummmmm. Yeah a hole. Ya are!!! ' if we had daughters I would have known right Away that we needed I pay for her wedding' sorry buddy my parents didn't factor in me marrying an Fdny and/ or a ny wedding! I think 275 people is crazy!

They should be happy that you parents are helping paying for anything at all, especially their guests. that is really ballsy of him to say. Just because you have a daughter does not automatically make it your responsibility to pay for the wedding. This isn't the year 1850.. What a piece of work FFIL must be
