I'm sorry to hear that. I know what you are going thru I have been out of a job for a few weeks now. Times are tough but the wedding must go on. I have cut a lot of corners because of it. As long as I have the people I love, good food, good music that is all that matters to me. Many blessingS!

My Fh is stuck in Texas because there is no work for him at his job here and there was stuff to do in Texas. By the time he comes home (if it doesn't get pushed back for a 4th time), he'll have been gone 6 months. I understand how hard it is!!! He still has a job so I'm grateful but it ***** that we have to be apart because of the economy.

Awwww.. you girls are AWESOME!!!! I love this site for this same reason...
Regardless in life we have to be positive!! Always with you head up and smiling... Every minute you spend worrying and sad is a second lost of HAPPINESS.. I have been this strong becuase of FH.. He is soo supportive, mentally, physically, emotionally and makes me feel like a SUPER WOMAN...
But regardless this economy or trails will push us back from accomplishing one of the most important steps of our lives.. Yet!! ROCK ON WEDDING 2009!!!

I think we all feel your pain. My mom and brother got laid off within a month of eachother. I'm afraid b/c we would lose our house if one of us lost our jobs. We're both in the medical field but it seems like nobody is safe anymore.

Yes I think everyone is hurting. It seems like everyone I know may lose their job or is worried about it. I feel like, figures, that's my luck to be planning a wedding at this time. Most of my wedding party has complained about costs but we started planning the wedding before all this and we won't cancel. If ppl don't want to come or can't come then I understand but I will also be more picky about events I attend in the future. As far as us affording everything, it is nerve racking spending all this money, not knowing what the future holds but I believe together we'll get thru anything.
I wish you guys lots of luck in planning and finding a new job.

So sorry to hear that. My FH also got laid off a while ago and has not had much luck finding anything at all..... . We are doing ok, but thing could be better moneywise of course. The economy is so messed up, but we are not postponing our wedding. I am just afraid that things might get worse in 2010....

Like I said before.. This site has been a blessing to me.. I love writing and getting responses from ppl that don't know me but that care..
I'm not stressing just sad.. I wish the economy was better for everyone.. It sad knowing ppl losing there HOMES (not house) becuase the home is where the heart is... I know ppl don't realized how big this is and it will actually take a while for it to fix up.. And we planning a wedding in the midst of all this!!
We are still strong with our planning and not thinking soo much about whats going on becuase then it will get us down..

I am constantly grappling with guilt. I'm paying for our wedding and am BLESSED to have a great job. I've done EVERYTHING POSSIBLE to keep costs minimal for my BP. Bought their dresses, paying for day of make-up/hair and am even flying in 4 relatives....and yet I feel it's not enough.
So many of my friends have gotten laid off. My sister is graduating and the job she lined up with MTV was pulled (layoffs), my MOH is unemployed....it's a horrible situation. I feel like spending over $30K on a wedding would be better spent helping others? IDK.
This is a horrible time. I keep have nightmares that my RH will go out of business or something.

I hear ya...economy ***** esp when paying for a wedding....here's my situation I'm a nursing student working part time and FH is financial advisor and with the economy so bad who in their right minds want to invest or do anything with their money if they have any?

I'm having similar guilt paying so much money for a wedding when everyone is struggling. One of FH's GM just lost his job and his wife isn't working now either. The company my dad works for is struggling and they're paying for a lot of the wedding. They set it aside awhile ago for me so they have it, but I'm sure that they'd be much happier if they just got to keep it. FH and I have been okay so far but you never know. We're trying to buy a co-op but if my dad's company folded, i would want to move in with them to help pay for the house so they didn't lose it. FH keeps having things cut at his job too (no more 401K match, things like that) but at least he has his job. It's just a mess right now. I hope it doesn't get any worse. But until then

so sorry sweetie! My dad got laid off a couple of months ago, so I know how you feel. We are helping my paretns out, but because of that we had to cut back on some wedding things.. I hope my dad gets something soon because he is so depressed

I know exactly how you feel and relate to all of you suffering from the economy. I'm graduation this semester and looking for work in the financial field, witch is the worst field to be in right now. I had a great internship this summer at one of the top 5 companies, we were all practically promised full time positions. It was such a great sense of accomplishment for me and we had already made tons of plans. but then when the market went down no one got an offer. Since then have been applying practically everywhere and not even a call for an interview :( Of course now I feel so guilty to spend so much money and return from honeymoon unemployed FH is both working full time and in school full time. Though tough tough!!!!!!! Hang in there all we can do is hope it'll get better

We are actually paying for a lot of things.. My parents are always helpful.. FH parents are always crying broke (I don't mine).. FH and I save money and live our lives normally..
I will pay for flower girl dress and Junior BM... Well actually I will pay for almost everything.. Since I want it to go justright I need to make an effort.. I'm grateful to have a great job and blessed to have a family that always helps out.. So I know I can count on them if I need them..
