but I found out last night that I need to have a colonoscopydone. I have to call the doctor next week to make an appointment to discuss it then probably have it done the week later. So with work and planning the wedding, I have to have this done now too.

I have had stomach problems for the last 3 years. I took a test for my doctor and he found microspots of blood in my stool (sorry if I am grossing anyone this early in the morning).

Good luck! I went to the hospital with my mom when she needed one done this year. The actual procedure didn't take long, but the day or two preceding was difficult. They give you a ton of stuff to drink to make you go, and you can't eat any solid foods or substantial liquids like milk. You'll need someone to drive you home, but I am sure you will be fine just as she is!

My doctor does it in his office so at least I do not have to go to the hospital. My problem is that no one can take me so I am probably going to have to take car service home and I can not miss work because I am already going to be out for my HM.

I had one done. It's really no big deal at all. The preparation is the really annoying part of it. During the procedure you don't even feel a thing.

I had this done. It's not that bad. The beforehand process (not eating and going a lot) is the worst part of it. They knock you out for the procedure. Best of luck

Also...I worked the day before and started taking the liquids late at night. I hardly slept at all...But it's better than having it interfere with your day.

He only does it in his Brooklyn office on Wednesdays.

If I lived in NY I would happily offer to drive you to and from the appointment.

The one thing I would mention is check with them before about having the car service take you home. They wouldn't let one other woman who had hers done when my mom was in leave in a taxi because the driver (for my mom it was me) had to sign a form saying they would make sure the person got home OK and that I had listened to what went on and the possible side effects (she was so out of it she wouldn't have known what was going on).

I don't have any experience with this, so all I can give you is many I know the timing stinks, but better to take care of this NOW and not any closer to your wedding

I’ve been avoiding this with a passion.
I had the appt set and all then cancelled. My stomach problems got better when I started getting more Fiber in my diet. I feel for you. I know sooner or later I’m gonna have to go in. I couldn’t take days off work either. That whole ‘prepping’ portion of this ordeal REALLY freaked me out. My doctor said she’d write a note saying I was undergoing a medical procedure and she recommended I go directly home as well as being unable to work that day. It mentioned I’d be well enough to work the following day but recommended rest the day of the procedure. So it was considered a ‘sick day’ at my office. Cool part was she gave it to me early so I could let my office know.

Doesn’t help I cancelled it. I just don’t wanna … honestly. My IBS is moderate to severe and it has to be done.. but.. I just don't want to!

Blood in stool is a symptom of colitis. I have to get checked for blood all the time since my dad has colitis and I have major stomach/digestion problems. I have not had a colonoscopy yet. It is very scary for me to even think about! Will your job understand if you say it is a medical emergency and get a note from your doctor? Good luck and lets us know how it goes. I know I will be needing one in the future

When the dr. was explaining it to me after my mom's, he said they also check for polyps, which they usually remove if they are found during the procedure...
