The Walmarts in the south are SO much better, I used to LOVE the one that I used to go to when I lived in NC.

I agree... and they are called Super Walmart Supercenters or somthing like that...

its like Walmart as we know it on crack. its like 4x the size and has everything you could ever want in one store

Anyway i dont like walmart at all it attracts very interesting customers. Not any of us of course but you guys know what i mean... right?

I went to the one in Islandia when it first opened, thinking it would be nice and new. It was already dirty and messed up and the clientele matched the cashiers in intelligence and that didn't say much.

I had to get caugh medicine for my hubbie and i had to wait on a line for 35 MINUTES

I went to the new Walmart in Westbury the other day. It is very nice but it took me forever to get out of there because they declined a credit card (this has never happened to me before)AND A DEBIT CARD. Then the cashier told me to paid cash. He was nice and helpful but jeez, could a manager help out instead of talking to all the other managers and cashiers. There were no lines whatsoever !! Everyone was just standing around! and it still took me 20 minutes to get out of there.

In NY Walmart is horrific....down South, it's a staple of life. I do all my food shopping there and it's hardly ever as crowded as they are in NY

I loooooooveeee Wal Mart. It's crowded by me (in NJ) but still no where near as crowded as the LI stores. Wal Mart is great for bargains but I prefer Target for cute / trendy things.

I LOVE the Walmart near my Grandparent's house in Florida. I have yet to go to one on Long Island and from the sound of it, I'd be better off not going to one.

i never go there. they put small businesses out of business and they dotn care. all they care about is making money. they also copy products, and pass them off as their own.. of course theyre cheaper so people go tehre instead of getting the real thing. A compnay we work with is sueing them.
They arent union either. They are really the worst thign ever.

I hate wal mart around here. I worked in Kmart (6 years of hell) and people would come in and say I hate this store its so messy and I can't wait till Walmart open. Of course after they left we would laugh at them and say good go there then but thats a whole other thread. I try and avoid walmart at all cost I hate it it is dirty they aisle are narrow and if that wasn't bad enough no matter what time of the day you go in there they have pallets with boxes down every aisle so forget trying to walk down there especially with a cart.

NOW goto wal mart in anyother state... In Florida I love Super walmarts they sell everything and have an entire supermarket in there. Its crazy and they are so clean and nice. Around here ill stick to Target though.

While I understand what you are saying most businesses are in it to make money..... The whole point of owning a business. And lots of places arent union.

That Islandia one is the worst. Setauket isn't bad, though I would take Target over Walmart any day of the week. My SIL moved to right near there and we went to the Stop and Shop in the Islandia Walmart shopping center this morning--their workers were so quick and friendly. Walmart must pay nothing to have such bad service. I always find Target workers so friendly and efficient.

Ooh, glad to hear the stop and shop is good! I almost went to the Walmart there on Saturday, but the parking lot was chaotic and I decided against it. Sorry I wasn't at the apartment to see you guys!

no, youre totally right... thers just more to it.. i saw this whole documentary on how bad they are and this and that. i wihs i rememberd more from it, but honestly, i cant. my dad is the national rep for his union and he used to tell me horror stories. he gets mad if my mom shops there.. lol, she still does though, she just throws out the bags.
they are pretty much the worst when it comes to sweatshops though.

I have heard the sweatshop thing.
