i have 5 menu choices ... is a menu necessary?

Original post by AwaitingAugust

I have 5 different options for my guests as far as food ... do i need to have a menu, or is it unnecessary?

I'm hoping for the latter so i can save a bit of money there.

choices will be the usual:
some kind of steak,
some kind of chicken,
some kind of fish,
shrimp,
vegetarian

Personally I like the menu idea because the other option is for the waiter to state the choices to each person.... and it's like deciding on the fly. I tend to make bad food choices that way sometimes.

What if you just do 1 menu per table instead of per person or per couple?

I think all you really need is 1 per table. You can print it at home and save a bunch of money that way.

ITA! I think having one menu for the entire table is a great comprimise.

I feel badly for that waiter who would have to repeat 5 different menu choices 10 times so everyone can hear and choose. Also, I'm a picky eater so I like to look at the menu and see what I'm about to order rather than being put on the spot.

I think i like this idea and will be going with one or maybe 2 menus per table ... would i put one on each side, or have them leaning up against the centerpieces? or otherwise?

Yeah I'd either make them using carstock to be kind of like a tent? Or maybe you can pick up cheap frames or something for them? I'll attach pictures of what I'm thinking of because I'm awful at describing it. LOL!

i agree with the other girls. since you have so many choices, i think that a menu is necessary but you can get away with having 1 or 2 at the table!

I would check with your hall. I know a number of hte halls that have 5-7 menu choices will provide menus the day of, either for the table, or for each place setting

Do you NEED it? No, but it is nice to have on the table so people can see and make their choice. Also, its annoying to have the server shout over the music 10x at the same table.

You can DIY it for cheap.
