Re: I have a Dumb Question
I don't think so... I mean we're using a band and they said they feel out the crowd when they decide on the music. Only thing they want is the main songs... First Dance, Mother/Son, Father/Daughter and any other special songs. I think they have a list of stuff they play at weddings that people love to hear and dance to.

Re: I have a Dumb Question
Not necesarrily.
With my dj..you sit and give him all the songs you want..
You can either pick everything.....or let them pick everything...
Or give him a list of the must play songs..he can choose which to play by the mood and excitement of the crowd...and go from there.
You're paying them...you can pick what you want to do

Re: I have a Dumb Question
I have the same question, its def. not a dumb one. I believe all the girls answered ur question but I will give my response as well. I was informed that you only have to give the DJ your MUST have songs...and then let him know what type of music you and ur guest are in to so he can pick decent songs.

Re: I have a Dumb Question
we gave our DJ a list of about 45 must play songs and highlighted the most important ones. we also told him what genres we didnt want played.

Re: I have a Dumb Question
It's never a dumb question. I know my DJ has asked me to give him the songs that I want played. You get to pick what you want played for the bok toss, first dance, etc. He also reads the crowd, but wants us to have our favorites. If there's a type of music you don't want played then you should tell him too.
Good Luck!!!

Re: I have a Dumb Question
i don't think so. i think you give them 2 lists:
'must play' - songs you absolutely HAVE to hear
'do not play' - songs that should NOT be played
and then, of course, a list of the special songs for your 1st dance, parent dances, cake cutting, etc.
a good dj should be able to figure out what else to play based on your musical tastes and also read the crowd and keep them dancin'!

Re: I have a Dumb Question
You dont have to do a song list for the full reception if you dont want to-but I would give a list of any songs you DEFINITELY WANT to hear and DONT want to hear
That is soooooooo not a dumb question. I am giving my DJ the songs that he must play and I want him to incorporate them into whatever he wants. I think a great DJ will know how to get the party started and keep it going. I have 100% confidence in Frank from FM.

Re: I have a Dumb Question
Nope-just a must play list. Our DJ said we could give all of the songs-but we just want to give a must play list.

I agree. A good DJ should be able to keep the party going all night without a detailed list...just supply him with the basic songs along with some Must have songs.
