I am going tonite with FH's parents because they would like to see the Reception Hall. Now im a little nervous, cause they like to get the best possible price. Should we negotiate tonite? well not me, but FH's dad. I am just nervous that the RH will get turned off by this. Is that possible? am i being irrational? They gave us a price of $90 for a 5 hour reception for a saturday night in june. How much lower should we go without looking stupid...be honest ladies!!Thank you!

It never hurts to negotiate. You may not be able to get the price down but you might be able to have a few extras thrown in like a VH or a choc. fountain or have an extra hour added to the reception at a reduced price. It's all what they are willing to do.

I agree. It's like when you go to buy a car - the price you see on the sticker is not what they actually expect you to pay.
You're right, though, $90 pp for a Sat. night is already pretty low - he might not go lower than that, but he will probably be able to give you more for that price - chair covers, dessert options, etc. GOOD LUCK!!!!

I think sometimes you kill them with kindness at first then when you get final numbers switch and get into well is there anything you can offer us because this hall we can get a 'insert item ice sculpture' for free with signing because they want our business can you beat that?....
Its best to try otherwise they will not offer it to you.

its worth it to try and i dont think that would have any bad effects on your wedding day at all...ask if they can do anything else to accomodate you since you two are paying for the whole thing

Re: I have a question, and need your advice
i thought the prices i got were good from milleridge and stewart manor.
then i took my mom.. she was negotiating at both places. I was happy though, because I didnt think I would be able to do it myself.
she was trying to work her magic, and when my dad made a comment she told the girl helping us... 'you must be used to this right?'
the girl laughed, and said yes.. then took off a little money.
i think they make the prices a little higher so they can negotiate if you try too/ then they look helpful and reasonable.. and if not they just have the extra.
