Would you take a 5 day old baby out ? one of my co-workers had a baby and she came up to to the college where we work and she bought her 5 day old daughter in to show us her baby! how long would you wait till you brougth your baby in to show people? I would in my opinion wait at least 2 months.

Were you bringing him to see family members? Or going to Disney?
I think 5 days old is a bit much to be in the company of coworkers. I would bring a five day old to family, but not work!

5 days old? I think that is just a tad too young to be exposing him/her to a number of people. Also, like juliet said, it would be different if it was family, but co-workers?
I don't know, to me that just seems a bit crazy (JMHO)

I don't have children but IMO if your comfortable with other people around your newborn then it is up to you to decided the suitable amount of time. I know somebody who has a 2 month old and will not allow her aunts from out of town to come to her home to see the baby ( Which I am not sure if I understand that one!)

Re: I have a question for you
I have seen some of the habits of my co-workers and I don't even want to be near them much less bring my new child around them!

Re: I have a question for you
if i had a baby i would only bring my child out to se their grandparents and aunts only family not co-workers not till they are a few months old like 6 months i know i said 2 earlier but i thought about that and thought that was too soon.

Re: I have a question for you
Apparently I was in Pancake Cottage when I was just 4 days old I would think that I would personally not be up to going out and visiting if I had had a baby 5 days before... It also depends on how close you are with your co-workers. If they were close friends you might want to...but then again, if they're really close friends they would probably come to your home or the hospital to meet the baby anyway...

Re: I have a question for you
I wouldn't take a baby that young out....because I have seen the effects of RSV on a baby 1st hand....its not worth it.
Going to a family members house is one thing...but a public place is completly different. I know its hard to resist the urge...who wouldn't want to show off their new baby? but you're taking a huge chance with a baby that young.

Exactly. Grandma is an important person to meet.

Re: I have a question for you
I didn't bring my son anywhere public for 2 months. Only to Grandmas house, and I also limited visitors. My Pedi also agreed on 2 months. When they are so young they are immune systems are still very weak. I say better safe than sorry. It was inconvenient to keep him in for 2 months but his health was more important than my convenience.

I had my babies out early too, not necessarily to show them off but to get fresh air and sunshine.

Re: I have a question for you
I don't have children yet, but my co-workers are like part of my family. I would have no problem taking my child to see them. The problem I would have is that there is no way in he!! that I would want to be seen in public 5 days after having a child.
