I have a question that may be too personal, but I'll ask it anyway

Original post by Becky

My friends have a six month old. For the first few months the baby slept in a basinette (sp?) next to their bed. My friend mentioned something about having sex while the baby was in the room and I just about fell off my couch. She laughed at me and told me that they have sex in front of her all of the time. Is this something that typically occurs in the first few months of a baby's life??? Would you have sex with your baby in the room? Can you not leave a baby in a swing chair in another room? I am no prude, but this one has me shocked.

Would you do 'it' if the baby was in the room and awake?

I think this is where I'd draw the line

Never when he is awake

Well, I know hubby wouldn't care, but I might feel awkward if baby starts looking
And if the baby is awake, I might want to shower him/her with attention.

This may all change of course, once I actually have a baby

Well since I only have one BIG huge bedroom and Gianna's 'room' is on the other side of ours, then I guess technically we have *ahem* DTD with her in the same room. But there is a room divider and she was asleep. (blushing over here )

if the baby is asleep fine..but if awake, i think I would be too distracted to want to fool around

as far as leaving them in the swing...when they are really little, they dont have much muscle control so you have to have one of those head roll pillows. I had an insert I would use in the swing and in the infant car seat.

I did leave julianne many times happily in her swing while I did laundry, went to the powder room ,took quick showers, etc
when i was in another rm for any length of time I would set up her monitor there so I could at least hear her for any problems

some nights that was the only place she would SLEEP for petes sake. I was reassured by my dr and by veteran moms that this happens a LOT when they are little....and to not worry about keeping them in there while they sleep. sometimes I would sleep on the couch while she slept.

we still use the swing,,,and make sure that we put int he snack tray so that she is secure in there

I think with a young child, while they are asleep there is nothing wrong with it. They do not yet know what is going on. By all means enjoy yourself. I know I would.

We did - but only when she was sound asleep. She has been in her own room since she was 7 weeks so luckily now I dont have to worry about it!
