Is anyone else having a ring bearer or had a ring bearer? If so is he holding the wedding bands for you and fh or did he hold the wedding bands for you and fh? I am having a ring bearer and I was told that the ring bearer gets fake rings to put on the pillow and the best man gets the real rings and holds them for the bride and groom. I have no idea if that is true or not can anyone help me on this? Thank you so much ladies for your help.

I didnt have one, but I would think that you should have the ring bearer get that pillow right before he walks,,, or have fake rings on the pillow.

I had a RB and as much as I love my nephew he was holding fake rings. The best man held the real wedding bands. My nephew was 3 1/2 when we got married and I couldnt trust him with the real thing

our ring bearer is 8 years old. Do you think we should still give him the fake rings or should we allow him to hold the real rings? I know normally the ring bearer gets the fake rings and the best man gets the real rings. I am stuck on this one.

I had 2 ring bearers, and they just carried empty pillows. One of the GM held the rings during the ceremony.

im not putting the real rings on the pillow...we'll have an adult hold them hehehe
he'll probably just walk down with just the pillow (we'll skip the fake rings).
the photographer can put the real rings on the pillow for a pic : )

oh yeah, i've NEVER heard of a ring bearer ever holding the actual rings. That's way too much responsibility for a child. They always have fake plastic bands tied to the pillow and the Best Man will hold the actual rings.

Even though your RB is old enough I would still give him fake rings. Just in case he gets distracted during the ceremony your officiant can ask the BM for the rings and you know that they will be there. Kids tend to get bored and you wouldnt want your RB playing with the rings and dropping them. If your RB is a good kid then give him the real rings, it is really up to you. I guess I wanted to be safe then sorry.

I want to be safe also and do the right things with the rings. One of them is my fh father's wedding band. He is wearing his Dad's band cause his Dad past away. My wedding band we bought. I trust the ring bearer but I am a little afraid he may drop either rings and loose them. It does happen even if your ring bearer is a good kid like mine is. I just want to do the right thing and not be sorry about it.
