we are getting married at the RH - so we dont have a reception card.....my question is.....how do the people who dont want to attend the ceremony know what time to come? like what if they want to come for the reception only?

It would say something like reception immediately following.

Re: i have a silly question
well technically its rude for them to only come to the reception- so I wouldnt worry too much about it- and if anyone is gonna do that, they will probably figure an hour after the start time

Re: i have a silly question
You just put Reception Immediately Following at the bottom of the invite and people will figure it out. RH ceremonies are usually fairly short (no more than 30 minutes), most people know that I think.

I put reception to follow at 6pm on the bottom of mine.

Re: i have a silly question
i have reception to follow on my invitation....im just asking because my wedding is on a friday night - so im not expecting people to make it to my 6pm ceremony - so it made me wonder what time they are going to aim to show up for - KWIM?
like if i was getting married at church at 2pm not everyone is going to attend that but people will know that CH starts at 7pm because the reception card says the start time

we've gone to weddings without going to the church - and when we have gone to church its never really packed its usually only close family, its never been all the people who were at the reception
ive never been to one at a RH though - is that different?

At the RH i think it is different, since it directly follows there should be no reason people shouldn't be there EXCEPT in your case ( which i didn't realize) , a during the week wedding where people would need to miss work .

we almost always go to the church unless its a far ride from the church to the RH with lots of time in between - of course if it were a close family member or friend we would go anyway (and have done that) but for say a co-worker we would probably just show up to their reception - im just being honest....but yeah for us its a friday so i know its going to be rough for people to make it - my mom said she thinks more people will show up to the ceremony since its at the RH and not at a church - but i was just wondering for the guests that cant make the 6pm ceremony - we did extend our CH its 6:30-8 so that people coming from work can still attend that part of the wedding....i was just wondering if guests would call me and ask me? or call the RH? or just figure that the ceremony is only 30 mins?

Re: i have a silly question
Same with us - we wrote reception immediately to follw on the lower left corner of our invitation - look in my album for a pic. The people who choose to or can not make the ceremony will have to use common sense to say ceremony should be about 1/2 an hour long.

Re: i have a silly question
i think putting reception immediatly to follow the bet way to handle it .
