I have a wierd pain in my side/Stomach

Original post by Danielle&Scott

I have been getting this for like 2 weeks now. I thought it would go away, but it hasnt yet. It is like a tingling, burning feeling that I don't have all the time, just some times. It is located on the side of my stomach and it almost feels like its my skin that hurts.

I know this sounds wierd, and I have no idea what it is. I know I need to probably make a doctors appointment, but what do i tell the nurse, my skin hurts?

Does anyone know what this would be?
Thanks

I had a pretty bad pain like that a while ago, left work to go to the dr because it hurt so bad...tingly more towards the skin like that and it was a pulled muscle....I think that could be a possibility for you, appendix would be horrible pain, I had my gall bladder out and thats even worse pain and not tingly etc...and IBS is more symptoms so take it easy and let us know...

This morning the pain isnt really noticeable. I am going to see if I can change my appointment till today, because I didnt goto work. My sinuses are killing me since last night, so I stayed home because I didnt want to look at the computer screen all day....

IBS is common and a lot of folks just get occasional bouts of it, not chronic like me and some of the other ladies here.

It comes in two forms. One where you never leave the bathroom, the other where you never see it. The pain you’re describing tho is pretty much what Im familiar with. Feels like someone kicked you there. Sometimes it’s the size of a fist and it’s sore from the inside out. It’s either right below your ribs or right under the actual rib cage.

I’ve started taking fiber finally just two pills a day and it’s helped immensely. I have what they call moderate to severe so the pain’s still there but not nearly as bad as it used to be.

Stress is a huge factor to IBS. Add in gassy foods or fatty foods and you’ll can have a heck of a bout. Odd thing is more the more pain, the more stress, the longer it lasts. I had to learn a lot of breathing and relaxing techniques for the pain.

Hope it’s just a simple tummy virus, but if not there’s no death sentence in a small bout of IBS.

Hope it goes well. Keep us up dated so we won’t worry! hehe

ETA: and for me.. carbs is the ONLY thing I can eat pretty much safely. Don't think I could do Aktins without curling up into a ball of pure pain.

I still really dont think its IBS. My friend has it and I know what she goes through. I will goto my regular doctor and if he says it is my stomach, then I will goto my gastrologist...and see what he says.

I agree. I have IBS but not to the extreme. My left side is always tender and swollen - sometimes more than others. Protiens and veggies definitely make it flare up even worse. Hence the extra weight gain I have seen in recent years, CARBS are my best friend! LOL

Could it be a kidney stone? FH had one about a month or so ago and he said it was feeling that was hard to describe, between a sharp pain and burning sensation but was in the area you described because the stone was traveling from his kidneys to his bladder.

Good luck!! Let us know how it goes.

Well I went to the doctor, and he said it isnt a kidney stone. He doesnt know exactly what it could be. He said it sounded like it could be shingles but since I had the pain for 2 weeks already, he doesnt think thats what it is...Shingles usually break out within a few days....He told me to just see what happens, and if it gets better not to worry about it, but if it gets worse to come back. He thinks there is a possibility that I pulled a muscle or something.

He gave me a prescription for my sinuses though...so at least my trip to the doctor wasnt a complete waste.
