What filling are you getting? Also are you getting Buttercream, Whipcream or Fondant?

I need to get a cake from a baker (not having a reception hall wedding). My planner budgeted $450 for 95-100ppl. What do you guys think about that? Is that the going rate?

the bakery my hall uses lets you get a sample made
just finished picking this last night since my sister is a pastry chef and is making my cake... almond cake with cannoli and rasberry filling. fondont icing.... yummy

Thinking buttercream on the outside since whipped cream needs to be constantly refridgerated or it melts...and FH and I don't like fondant (sp?). I want pudding on the inside.

I want carrot cake (though I was advised against it), and I really don't care if half the people don't like it. It's my favorite, and for those who don't want it, we're having a cookie plate on each table, and a bananas foster station - yum!!

im thinking of buttercream with vanilla cake with chocolate raspberry mousse or white chocolate mousse....but that dulche de leche one sounds good right now!

We did Carrot and it was a HUGE HIT!!! EVERYONE RAVED about it because it was so different for a wedding cake. Most people have been to a lot of weddings and have tried just about everything. When our guest saw we had carrot cake they dove right in! We're still hearing about it! Good choice!
