I have some good news...

I have some good news...

I got a job offer today! I don't start until next month and I am still going to go on the interviews I have lined up next week anyway because those are part time, this one is fulltime (grad school full time and work full time are there enough hours in the day???). Which brings me to a question I have for those who have ever been in graduate school...is it that much harder? Did anyone else work full time or would I be crazy to work full time? I may try working full time anyway and see how it goes and if it's too much deal w/ it then. Suggestions? Advice? Thanks everyone for listening me complain these past few weeks.

I'm in a full time executive doctoral program while working full time. It's hard, but doable. I don't have many (any?) weekends totally free with the homework I need to do. I'm pretty tired all the time. But I was before I started school again....

Grad. school I think depends on where you are going whether or not it is difficult. My master's at Stony Brook was easy. Not much work. My undergrad was very hard, so the master's was much easier. It's also the area you want to study, so that makes it easier.

Grad school can be consuming. In addition to two full day of classes per week, I had an internship 3 days per week for 8 hours each day. I would not have been able to go to school full-time and work full-time. I think if you go to classes part-time, you would be able to work full-time.

To be honest I just want to get my degree done because that's where the real money is. If I had a choice I would opt to work part time. I will have clinical work w/ clients come spring so I would have to eventually go down to part time anyway. I am going for speech pathology. One of my friends took 1 graduate class (her first) over the summer and said it was a lot of work just for that one class, so you can understand my concern when I have 4 classes.

To be completely honest I found grad school to be easier and more practical than undergrad. You don't have to take all of those 'required' classes that are sooooo boring...you are focusing on your area of expertise. I didn't work and go to school full time, but I have taken 3 classes while working ft. Yes, it is difficult but it is doable - mostly bc you are motivated to do the work because the classes are interesting. Good luck!

ETA: my Master's is in Reading, and although there were practicums, I was able to do them after school (work).
