I have to get a second job!

Am I the only one that has to get a second job because of your wedding? FH and I aren't fortunate enough to get $$$ help from our parents. With our regular bills and the wedding, there really isn't any other choice. He has a great job and gets paid good money...my hours change on a daily basis. I could work 4 hours a day, I could work 10 hours a day....needless to say, I'm not getting enough hours at my supposedly 'full time' job, so I'm getting a second job to work at night. Any one else in my shoes? OH NO!!! This means alot less time on LIW!!!

I work one night a week waitressing. It makes a big difference. I work Sunday nights from 4 or 5 until 9. Not bad at all

Don't feel so bad. I just got home from my second job. It is a night job non the less. I keep telling FI that I want to quite, but I know we need the We have to pay for EVERYTHING... I am mean EVERYTHING by ourself. We just purchased a home out east, because we couldn't even afford anywhere else. (still don't know how we afford the one we got ) My second job just gives us that little bit to put towards the wedding.... FI can't get a 2nd job, he travels and works 9-5 every day.... So I just can't wait for it to be over and maybe I will cut back these hours.

I hear you! I haven't started a 2nd job yet but I am going to have to. My parents can't afford to help me and his parents just don't believe they should....That is a whole other forum...these damn in-law's. Ahhhhh!!!!

yup I also have a second job. I have had it for about a month. And it seems to be helping us out so far.

I had to get a second job also. My fiance and I are paying for everything too, without help from anyone. My poor fiance had to get a third job just so we can keep our heads above water. But it's all worth it! Someday we are going to look back at this and be able to smile that it was so hard, but we made it!

I started working Saturdays for OT and on Mon,Thurs, and Fri. I work 8am-8pm. Then Tues and Weds nights I have school right after work, so I can only do 1 hr of OT on those 2 days....
It's tough...but I just got paid yesterday and with all that OT, I was able to put $1k in the wedding fund! OH YEAH!

God do I hear ya!! We are paying for everything too......and it is tough....you really start to worry if you will ever have enough $$$. Not too mention that it is no fun not having quality time with the FH. Oh well....it is for a good reason right?????

That's what I keep saying...it will be money well spent and we won't worry all the time. (I wish there was an emote-icon of fingers crossing! Oh well...just picture it...here!) LOL!

Money well spent, it's a good time to save work hard now and retire young my dad always says. Good luck I feel like I haven't seen my fh in months

How do you explain me being on LIW all the time? I work 9-5 mon-fri, 9-6 on saturday, and 12-5 on sunday. My only days off are holidays!!! Thank God I have the internet at both jobs!!

I don't have access to a computer at either job. My regular full time job is a mail lady, so I'm outside all the time. My second job will be a cashier! I'll miss this board!!!

I'm lucky enough to have a job that offers unlimited over time. I worked 7 days a week, sometimes 70+ hours for about 7 months to pay for this wedding. I was miserable at the time, but looking back on it I'm glad I did. It's nice to have the extra money.

Thats the same boat I'm in, Im so tired, but I do need to get a second job...........

I just got a second job. It's not a lot of work but it'll give me extra spending $$ which I need. It's only about 8-10 hours a week. Not too bad.

i did not get a second job but i just asked for OT at my regular job the same concept i need more $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

omg i hear you girls so much!! we are paying for 2/3 of the wedding, at least! my parents are giving us whatever they can, and his parents havent said anything yet about anything lol. i am considering a second job, it would have to be a weekend thing, i was thinking waitressing, because i used to do it a few years ago, and the $ is so good. but i have no idea where to even start!! any ideas would be greatttt.
