Why does everyone get a Newlywed Chop? or rather why grow out your hair for the wedding? I mean I have long hair now, I have had it for yrs before. I'm like it you like short hair then why not do it for your day.

I grew my hair out for the wedding b/c I knew I wanted an updo and I wanted to make sure they had enough hair to do whatever I wanted. But I have the habit of growing my hair out long and then cutting it short again. So it's just part of my normal 'cycle' for me.
I'm pretty much the same way...I chop it short then grow it out. This has been the longest it's ever been. I want a 1/2 up 1/2 down style and I have naturally thick hair so I don't need extensions, so after we got engaged I decide to let it grow longer. I got it trimmed a couple of weeks ago because my hair was starting to look dry and flat and needed the lift.
After the wedding I will probably chop it but not super short like I had it when i met FH (to my chin). I'll probably opt for shoulder legnth. I think that looks more age appropriate and professional for me.
