I have to rant about the church.

When Fh and I met with the priest last week he told us we had to get new baptismal certificates because we can't use the ones our moms have had since we were baptised. I knew it was just another way for the church to make money. I expected it to be like $10. Well I happen to work two blocks away from the church I was baptised at so I just called. Yeah it's $25. That's crazy.
Also because I was baptised, did my communion, and confirmation at three different churches if my confirmation information isn't on the back of that $25 certificate, I have to go to that church and get another $25 certificate. Ugh and my mother and Fmil wonder what I don't want to get married in a church.

Re: I have to rant about the church.

All the information should be on the back of baptismal certificate. Once you get married, your wedding information will also be added to your baptismal certificate.

FH baptismal certificate was a $5 donation. My biggest gripe was it took them 5 months to cash the check.

Also double check if you should get the certificate now, sometimes they only want it in the year you are getting married.

I have to rant about the church.

I had to do the same thing. The church I was baptized in didn't charge me. I have heard about some charging $10 but never heard $25. Also wherever you had your confirmation, it is their responsibility to have sent that info over to the church you were baptized in. This is what our priest had told us.

For example,
I was baptized at St Helens. Made my communion at St Rose and my confirmation there as well. When I just got my baptism record from St Helens all the info from St. Rose was on it. The contacted them after I made the sacrament and it was added on to the record.

Hope this helps!

He did say it should be but he also said it's possible that it isn't. Regardless $25 is ridiculous. He said we could get it now. I'd rather get it now so I don't have to worry about it later.

Yeah I figured it would be $10 not $25.
He did say it should be there but he also said it's possible that it's not. This was more of a rant about it being $25 than anything.
