I have to vent about my CHURCH! (LONG!!)

I am sooo pissed about this place! Don't want to say the name...I will name in my review when its all said and done but for now I don't want them to screw me further

First of all...they gave me a problem about the priest...basically everyone is on vacation in July! So I had to find my own priest! I almost couldn't do Pre Cana because of this because no one could understand why I didn;t have a priest BUT my name was in the book...Everytime I called the rectory there was an issue...Yeah ok I snuck in there and wrote my own name in their freakin book!

Now I hear (from a fellow LIW Bride) that they have new regulations about decorations and that now nothing can be thrown outside the church.

If I wasn't six months away I might find another church!

This just really aggravates me because for 30 years my family has been a part of this parish. My brothers and I all made every sacrament there.

My mother gave (and still gives) lots of money every week and every holiday to the church and this is what I get???

ETA...I am overall dissappointed in my church...I thought I would have a better experience than I am having with them

That *****! It'll all work out. They've done plenty of weddings and your day will be perfect!

I've heard alot of churches don't allow things to be thrown outside. So it's not just them.

are you annoyed about the priest issue or the no throwing things outstide church? we cannot throw stuff outside either, i think a lot of churches are doing this now.

My church won't allow us to throw things outside either - so I guess they are going to be a bit shocked when my guests throw rose petals! My thinking is - what are they going to do, unmarry me?!?!?!!?

Well our photographer was telling us that they did a wedding at my church and people threw rose petals....and one of the priests came out with a LEAF BLOWER and blew it all over everyone! Very nice right?

OMG - maybe I will think a little harder about that! It just really gets me that they make that rule....it takes all of 5 minutes to clean that up, and rose petals are not bad for the environment or birds. What is the deal with these stupid rules???!?!?!?!?

They do it because THEY CAN! They were also talking about No aisle runner as well when we were at Pre Cana!

My Church told us after we booked that we can't have a runner and things thrown outside of Church. I've been to many many weddings there and everyone throws something..so i'm not going to worry about it. They are more worried about the mess..it doesnt take much for what we are paying to take a broom and have someone clean it. I think that the whole thing is silly! The runner they said someone can slip and they are responsible..which is kinda understandable b/c i've seen them tear apart w hile people are walking.

The whole finding your own priest thing is weird though...they shouldn't make you find one..they don't have any during the summer b/c t hey are all away? that is so strange! What about looking into a different Church? or you have your heart set on that one?

It is true though.....other churches have these 'rules' as well. It is bad enough that they tell you how much you have to 'donate' let alone the decorations. I am not allowed to have an aisle runner, or allowed to throw petals outside or inside the church. With that in mind, I will have the flower girl wear a fresh floral headpiece and have ribbon wands given out to the guests in place of the flower petals.

Its not just one thing though...ITS EVERYTHING WITH THIS PLACE! I am given a hard time everytime I call...the priest thing is absolutely rediculous and the no petals and from what I hear limited decorations is just the straw that broke the camels back!

I think you still have time.... I would find another church for both you for your wedding and your mom so that she can go to a place where they spend more time praying with you then playing with you!

I know...its really upsetting

so sorry this is happening to you!

i cant believe they are making you find your own priest. you can still look for another church, but you said your mom isnt happy about that. have her call and tell them you need a priest and thats it!

alot of churches wont let you throw things outside. i think my church allows birdseed and thats it really. rose petals can stain so i can understand how they dont want that all over the place.
