I hope no one minds me asking...

I hope no one minds me asking...

I am getting married in Sept. However FH and I have been together for 10 years and I used birth control for the first three years only. Now I just went to GYN today and told him that we want to conceive right after the wedding or even a month before. I am 33 and he is 38(and had a child from a previous marriage). Without protection sex we haven't even had an accident. Anyhow I am jsut getting a little worried. Any advice or anyone can share this experience.

Try not to think about it. Just enjoy your wedding and the time you have together.
Stress can definately have an affect on someone who is ttc.

I certainly don't want to scare you, but this was my situation. No BC, no accidents.

Thought I was just lucky.

I once mentioned it to an old OB/GYN, and he said, well are you trying to get pg now? I said no, not quite yet. He told me that my tubes were probably *clogged*, and when I'm ready they can just 'blow them out' for me. How wrong he was.

Turns out my tubes were blocked, and no, they could not be 'blown out'.

In the last 3 years we've been TTC, I've had...

2 HSG's
2 surgeries
2 IUI's
COUNTLESS blood tests and ultrasounds (I've even built up scar tissue in my arm where they 'stick' me!)
1 ectopic pregnancy
and am now embarking on my FIFTH IVF.

I wonder what would have happened if that Dr had taken me seriously or if I had insisted on being tested all those years ago. I wonder if it would have been different.

That being said, I would have it checked out. Hopefully it turns out to be nothing, but you also don't want to wonder, what if....

Agh, I thought I was lucky too! Like Lisa...countless blood tests and ultrasounds later still no baby. Perhaps start charting for a few months as well as using ovulation kits. This will be a great way to learn your body and figure out if/when you are ovulating. It's not much but it is the only thing that gives me any sense of control in the TTC journey.

Thanks all for your advice. I jsut started this month to track my ovulation to see if I regularly ovulate and my Gyn is sending me for an ultra sound and FH for a sperm analysis. He wants to do these preliminary test first and then more intense tests later. I hope it will work out and good luck to all you ladies TTC. Keep positive thoughts!!

I went of the pill 2 years before my wedding and didn't use any protection and never got pg. When we decided we wanted to try it happened right away. Good luck!

When you say you used no protection, are you saying that he wouldn't even pull out (withdrawal)? We went 10 years with the withdrawal method only and had no accidents, so like you we figured we'd have trouble when we wanted to get pregnant. But it worked out for us on the 3rd or 4th month trying.

Charting your temps and ovulation is definitely the smartest thing to do right now so that you can understand how your body is working. Good luck!

Thank you for that infor. That is exactly what we are using (withdrawal). And my GYN got me so scared when he said that method is what keeps him in business as if to say it never works and I should have gotten pregnant. Thank you so much you made my day and congratulations to you and yours!!!
