Make a little extra dinner and take leftovers.

There's always sandwiches (cold cuts, cheese, pb&j, tuna, egg) salads, frozen entree's, yogurts, granola bars, cereal, soups...

i used to hate working in the city. the food is so expensive.
thats why i gained weight by eating bagels from pax (1.00) or taco bell mexican pizzas or wendys 99 cent menu- so fattening!!

maybe trying buying cold cuts at home and making a pita sandwich?

cook extra food and bring it to work r

in tupperware bringsalad greens with dried cranberries and walnuts and gorgonzola and then keep the salad dressing at work
and put it on whe nyou are rready to eat

what about buying lean cuisines when they are on sale and keeping them at work?

fruit salad? sandwiches from the deli?

I feel your pain - and its not even worth it!

I have been bringing boca burgers or pb sandwiches (cheap and filling) then I have a small bag of chips or some fruit (buy it from the fruit guys on the corners)

I often bring a frozen meal and microwave it. Even if you don't have a fridge, you can keep it in an insulated bag and just heat it for less time.

I used to bring lots of sandwiches and ate baby carrots and apples almost every day. They are portable and don't bruise as easily as other produce.

Ugh. I know!!
I used to blow so much cash on lunch it was INSANE.
So when I got engaged in order to save money for the wedding and watch what I eat I started to go to Food Emporium and buy Lean Cuisines and WW meals. Then I'd buy fruit and healthy snacks to keep at my desk. I loved that I went in the city and did not have to lug it in on the train. Not only did I lose weight because I knew what calories I was letting into my body, I was saving SOO much money.
I stash them in the freezer in a grocery bag with my name on it and it's been terrific. I've been doing it for 3 years now.

frozen foods, WW, lean cuisine

sandwiches from home, with fruit and salads from $1 menu at wendys

i keep a bottle around for water refills instead of the vending machine

That's about how much it costs for me too and I don't work in the city!

I seriously need to start brown bagging it at least 2-3 days out of the week. It's too much money...

Lunch in the city is killer, I spent $6 on a wrap today, and I threw most of it out b/c it was so bad...I usually bring my own salad in. I keep my dressing in the work fridge.

I feel your pain. I think that being unemployed has actually been better on my wallet since I don't spend money on lunch or train tickets.

I used to bring leftovers a lot but I know sometimes that gets boring so I would find inexpensive deli's and such for the days when I wanted to splurge. My old company also had a really good, really cheap cafeteria that I frequented. $4.15 for a huge wrap with chips and carrots. I wish I could have one now!

And it s**ks that you get so little for $11 - I definitely bring in lots of leftovers, yogurt, fruit, granola bars. It's worth taking the 5-10 minutes the night before to put something together.
