I just came out of the best ER room ever! (I am sick)

I feel like crap and so I went into the ER after school tonight. Winthrop University Hospital over in Mineola. GREAT ER!

Very nice, fast and efficent.

Got a prescription just in case I don't get better by Saturday. Also got strict instructions to stay home and rest, but I can't need to work. They even gave me a paper for work to say 'Stay at home' heh!

You really should listen. No amount of $$ is worth your health and they would not give you those instructions for nothing. If you don't take off a couple of days now, you will wind up having to take off a longer amount of time later. Let your body get better. Hope you feel better.

ETA: If you don't mind me asking, what's wrong?

Hey ,

I hope you feel better, I know what you mean about working and going to school. I have no time to be sick. That is not on my agenda. Rest so you can enjoy the weekend.

Re: I just came out of the best ER room ever! (I am sick)

Well I only have two days of work left. Then I'm off until Nov 11th.

We have a major team meeting on Friday and I need tomorrow to prepare for several meetings that I won't be present for while Im on my Honeymoon.

I can't not go. But I can show this to my bosses and say 'hey go easy on me' ya know?

I have an overglorified cold. My throat is nearly closed up. I squeak. Feel lousy and I have a weak (all be it painful) cough. icky phlemy stuff coughing up too.

SO NOT SEXY for a honeymoon!

Re: I just came out of the best ER room ever! (I am sick)

you should call your insurance company to make sure they will pay for that. I work for Empire Bluecross and we wont pay to go to the ER for that, I had an MRI once due to a BAD headache and my insurance didint pay b/c they felt I could have gone to my regular Dr. first. You really have to be careful when you go that they will bill it as a true emergency or insurance will not pay.

Re: I just came out of the best ER room ever! (I am sick)

My co-pay for ER visits that do not include required hospital stay is $50.

I knew that. But my throat was SO painful!! Im home right now. trying to follow the orders of rest and liquids.

*shrug* Money or health. Not a tough question for me.

I have Oxford. Plus the ER I went to is connected with my own doctor. Which is to say, I couldnt see her because her office was closed by the time I got out of school, so i was instead directed to her affliate ER room (which is also the closest to my home)

Try to relax as much as possible. You probably got sick from too much going on with the wedding and not sleeping enough.

I have Oxford too.
I had to pay $50 went i was taken ( in an ambulence) to the ER & needed 11 staples in my head. Like I had any other choice. . .
I was in that middle ground, I didn't need to stay, but a regular doctor wouldn't have been able to help & it couldn't wait till the morning when they opened.
I didn't really mind though, it is SO much less than if I had to pay the whole thing myself! That was SOME bill.

Thanks for the tip though. It's nice to know that Winthrop is good, in case we ever need it.

ETA: Feel Better!

Re: I just came out of the best ER room ever! (I am sick)

WHere are the 24-hour walk in clinics?

Does Long island have any?

When i lived in Texas, there was a chain of them. If you had a non-life threatening medical need you could go into these places.

Really useful as they were considered doctor office visits to the insurance as long as the clinic was in-network.

Ya'll have anything like that out here?

I've experienced WDW on HM with a sick person ... not so much fun (DH had bronchitis!! Actually, I had a NASTY sinus infection when we got engaged there ... )

Anyway, every time I see the subject of this post I ROLL ... it struck me funny when I first saw it that you were jumping for joy over the ER and that you were sick ...

Well being sick is bad enough.. it's REALLY crappy when you're in an ER for HOURS and treated by folks who act like you're faking it or as if you're some sorta school project.

These folks were fast, sympathetic and kind.
