Re: I just cant..
Are you dieting or exercising, or both?
It's a very good idea to give yourself a day off during the week. I'm on Body for Life and I usually do Saturdays. The program actually tells you that taking a day off is beneficial both mentally and physically. Mentally because you don't feel that you're depriving yourself. You can have anything you want...you just have to wait until Saturday And physically because your body doesn't ever go into 'starvation mode' - where it starts hoarding calories because it thinks it's being starved. Starving your body really messes with your metabolism and makes it more difficult to lose weight in the long run.
Good luck!! You can do it!!!

So your 'day off' means you can eat whatever you want with no regrets?

I am a huge fan of body for life...and a success story too. 4 months before my wedding I started the body for life program and in 14 weeks I lost a total of 25 pounds. Body for life allows you to have what's called a Free Day. One day out of the week you are allowed to eat whatever you want. If you want 5 Big Macs you can, if you want 5 slices of pizza you can. I use to look forward to that free day. It was such a treat and really kept me focused for the whole week. I really never cheated on my diet because of it.
How are you doing on it?

Re: I just cant..
Body for Life is a combo of dieting and exercise. Basically it involves eating 6 small meals a day with a portion of protein and a portion of carbs at each meal. A portion is defined as the size of the palm of your hand. And I think you have to add a portion of vegtables at 2 meals. Of course you also drink tons of water, 8-10 glasses a day. And there are limits to what you can eat.
For exercise you switch each day between cardio and weight training. Example:
Mon-Upper Body Weights Tues-Cardio Wed-Lower Body Weights Thurs-Cardio Fri-Upper Body Weights Sat-Cardio Sun-Rest
Then on Monday you would start with the lower body workout.
One day each week is a free day where you don't work out and you eat whatever you want. It's your body's day to rest.
I LOVED this program and pretty much stayed to it after the wedding. But then 7 months later I got pregnant. So now I am probably going to start up the exercise program portion of it again.
If you're interested in it you should check out the bodyforlife.com website. And then if it really sounds like something you're into you should pick up the book and journal and begin. It really is a great program. Feel free to FM me if you have any questions.

Huge fan of Body for LIfe here too! The first time I did it, I didn't lose weight so much, but it totally changed the shape of my body. I guess I didn't see much of a change on the scale because I wasn't particularly overweight and I gained so much muscle. But, I got much thinner, my butt went down, my muscles were defined, it was great! I did the full 12 weeks, but then afterwards, it really made you think twice about what you were eating and what it meant to eat healthily. so it really did change the way I ate in the long run. I was in really great shape for a year and a half or so. After my wedding, though, I moved to London to be with DH, and didn't have a steady job, didn't belong to the gym, wasnt' on any type of schedule, so things kind of went to pot. But, I'm happy to say I'm back on the program - in the middle of week four and I'm loving it! DH has already commented on the fact that it's working! I have so much more energy and everything is getting back into shape!
I think with this program, you see changes so rapidly, that it really motivates you to stick with it. And the free day - yes, with no regrets! - really helps to keep you on track. It sounds like a lot of work, going to the gym every day, but really you're in and out - just 20 minutes of cardio and you're supposed to finish your weight training sessions in less than 45 minutes.
I'm here to answer any questions too!

Weekends are the toughest. I make myself eat a salad at dinner if we go out, and it fills me up. I usually can't finish my entree.
You'll do it, I have faith! After a few days of watching what you eat, you'll forget about it and get in the zone...try starting on a Monday, then you have 5 solid days of eating well and more motivation to get through the weekend.

Re: I just cant..
Body for Life sounds interesting. I like the exercise schedule of it. I try to exercise 2 or 3 times a week (ok, I haven't exercised since Sat., but I plan on tonight), but each time, I do cardio, abs and lower body. The cardio involves arm weights, so I figure that helps out for working upper body. The thing is it feels so time consuming, and it feels like a pain to get through the cardio and know I still have to tone my abs and legs. I think I should try the exercise schedule posted above, so it's not so much in one day.
I'm more trying to keep myself the same size because I feel like I've gained a little, so I asked my friend about WW, and I try to do that. I do allow myself fatty things sometimes, but I don't eat it a lot like I used to. I used to have fast food a few times a week, Carvel shakes every few days, and if I ate chocolate, it would be a big portion. So I figure cutting back in any way helps.
