when we got home after our wedding and went through all the cards there were 3 missing from my cousins who all brought guests.(they are rich they have over a million in their trust funds) so I told my Mom and she told my Grandmother.
So my Grandmother asked my uncle(their Dad) what happened so he called her back today and said they didnt have any money
CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT!!!!!!!! then why would you come and why bring a guest??? Is that rude or what? When they graduated from high school I gave them money what the hell It isnt even about the money...they are and always have been snobby rich kids I just cant believe them

The money thing wouldn't bother me since I'm not expecting any from my guests and even thought they're 'loaded' you never know what makes people tick...not everyone is so generous and the more you have, the stingier you tend to be. Hence why I'm always broke (love giving! ). BUT, the no card thing would get me so peeved...a card with some good wishes would have sufficed, sorry they didn't even do that. I'm sorry!

Welcome to the newlywed side when you see how inappropriate people can be when it comes to weddings! I actually had someone LIE to me that they had the card, they lost the card, they are mailing the card, they lost the card again, they are sending the card ... this after I agreed to allow their son come to my wedding
You are right it's not about the money, or I should say the amount of money ... it is about the RESPECT and COMMON CURTEOUSY you show people when you go to weddings.

I feel your pain. We had a whole thread going on about this when I told on my sister who did not give a gift. A lot of people will tell you they wouldn't mind but we'll see how they feel when it's their turn!!
It's really annoying and I'm really sorry for you!!

Absolutely ... and we're not even talking Joe Shmoe co-worker here ... we're talking immediate close family/friends. People you've done something for in the past.
The person above who 'stiffed'/lied to me is notorious for pulling this. After all the gifts bestowed on her and her husband and her stepson. To not put $50, $75, $100 or even a card is insulting.

they were inconsiderate from the get go....they never rsvp'd to my bridal shower and they didnt come
they never RSVP'd to my wedding but their Dad called my mom to say they would come and might bring a guest so I called all 3 of them to see what was up and only 2 called me back!!!
Oh by the way at the wedding they got sooo drunk and danced like tramps and then bragged about their Kate Spade handbags and their new cars and their new cell phones and new shoe and they got their hair and nails done
They probably think I am trash or something that they didnt even get me a card! But I bet they would never go to friends wedding and not bring anything
oh and they were telling my other cousin(21st bday) that they wanted to take him out and get him drunk on his bday........that night(they werent broke_

we didn't even get a card from DH mom and step dad...nothing... SOmetimes I think that kind words and wishes written in a card are worth more then any gift, but I wouldn't know cause they didn't bring anything with them...

I can see why your annoyed. We didnt care too much about the money knowing we were going to get very little back , BUT we had a friend who originally RSVP'd THREE ( when we invited them alone) , and gave in and said bring guest..NOT SHOW UP. People do strange things!

I just think if you don't have the money, then *** would u go for? People are spending money so you can have a good time at their wedding, so don't be cheap n not pay up.
Me and my Fiance are payin for our whole wedding and no one better be cheap!! I would never go to a wedding if I couldn't give the money-I'd be so embarrassed!

I know personally, I am not expecting ANYTHING. My guests are all close family and they are working poor - I know this going in so there will not be any dissapointment. I'm inviting who I want to be there and keeping it 'small' because it's what I can afford.

Ok i dont care if i sound shallow but my wedding is an investment..... We are figuring on a certain amount of money gifts to help us cover costs and hopefully have some extra to invest.
Of course it is also a special day but when you look at how much you are paying for people to come, you better hope to get some back.
Did they not even give an actual wrapped present?? Thats horrible and rude. Sorry you had to deal with this when you got back

I totally agree with Anti-Bride. I know that weddings are all about you and your FH and being with the ones you love- I am fully aware of the purpose of the day. But when you have a fairly large wedding, you do count on something in return. Yes it would be nice if you got some money back, but the absolute least thing I would hope to get is a card. They are $2.00, heck, your cousins could have even made one! Their behavior was really rude and they obviously only care about themselves.

Maybe, if they are that 'out there', they think dear old dad ponied up for them. Reminds me of something Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie would do!
