I just found out something so upsetting...

I just found out something so upsetting...

all of the sudden Jake's grandmother doesn;t think I am good enough for him

B/c I am are you ready for this...half Irish- she found out at the shower

Jake is about 80% different things himself

SHe doesn't want to come to the wedding anymore- meanwhile she replied yes already

She thinks I am using him to 'get everything I want in life'

Um...excuse me- whose family is paying for the WHOLE wedding with out even an offer...MINE

Jake is calling her now, she is crazy- we all know that- but to do this to us less then 2 months before the wedding is NUTS- and Beyond

If I tell my family this they will KILL her- ( the italian half anyway..lol)

I almost have to laugh at her- if it wasn't for me - Jake would still be a bouncer - instead of owning his own business- which Me and my family encourged him to do - my Dad even offered him start up money

If she feels this way I don't want her there-

I just needed to vent- thanks for listening

Listen, honey forget about her. You are not getting married to her you are getting married to Jake that is all that matters. Moreover she is old so pardon her.

You can't let this bother you at this stage of the game, like you said you only have 2 months to go & you should just laugh at her. Some people are not happy unless they are causing problems. What did Jake say???

Im sorry that you're going through this Beth...on a funny note though, this situation so reminds me of 'American Wedding', where granny had a fit bc the girl was Jewish...just manage to shut her up somehow

I completely understand why you would be upset but like you said - do not let this bother you with 2 months to go.

Grandparent's can be thoughtless and rude to be honest. I can't tell you how many times mine has said something crazy to me - like 'your going to be an old maid' when I was 21 and not engaged yet - they can be a little nutty

As long as Jake is supporting you that's all that matters.

First she accused me of being Jewish- and even went so far as to ask my Dad some inapporaite questions

she just brought up to Jake that I am not even 50% Italian- b/c I am part Sicilian

I told him I will try to not make a big deal about but I have to tell my Dad- he is the keeper of the list

I can't belive this!

Apparently some elderly people are still adhering to racists views of the past. That's a shame... It's even worse when we make excuses for them, saying 'well, they're old' or 'well, they're from a different generation....' Thank god your man didn't do that

I am so proud of your fiance for standing up for you! That's a sure sign of what kind of husband he will be for you. You are a very lucky girl.

I would not hurt my head over such ignorance you have your wedding to think about. Just think about how much your hubby loves and how much you loves him.
