I am brand new to this. Just got engaged on July 6, 2007. I am thrilled and wanted to share pics of my ring. I just love it! Its an ascher/ emerald depending on how you look at it and it is just right for me. It has this simple micro pave around it and on part of the band. Had to share. The pic dosen't do it justice it really sparkles
I only just started looking at venues. So far its rather frustrating. My hubby to be is from New Zealand, so we can't count on many people coming from there. We are talking 40-55 people max at my wedding. I hate being limited to the middle of the week or only restaurants. but I guess I will just have to keep looking. Like everyone, we are on a tight budget. no more than 75 per person.

congrats and welcome!! Good luck with the search! I found it more of a pain then fun, we were on a tight budget as well, the one thing I can say, is look at dates that fall on a holiday, or near one, or right after one, the prices are usually much better, I'm getting married on Columbus day and paying what people pay for my hall in the middle of the winter, and I still got to get married in Oct. like we wanted.

Thank you to both of you! I appreciate any and all tips! It's nice to feel like I am not in this alone. And for the holiday part, yes I am looking into that I had heard that before, but so far I only went to 2 places and it didn't seem to help much. Oh well! I will not give up though! I really loved the Wintergarden pavillion at Fox Hollow but I will never have enough people for there and the manager told me today no way he can do a wedding for 50 people in any room. Westbury Manor can do it, but only during the week otherwise they want 125 a person and they put on a lot of contraints.
But the search has only begun!!!

My sister only had about 50 people at her wedding at Manor East in Massapequa. It was great.

Oh Sweden nice!! Yes its a bit tricky having a foreign fiance, makes life interesting, but it will be well worth it in the end. Anyone on the board see that show Beauty and the Beast that used to be on tv? Remeber the tunnels? I want that type of really romantic look at my wedding... hence why I liked that winter garden pavillion so much. I also like the water though and gardens a lot.
I looked at the Huntingotn Yaht Club, they just redid the downstairs room and it was beautiful but its not cheap. They also don't seem to care what month you have it the price stays the same.

Congrats!!! I think there is a place called the Miller Beach Surf Club. I have never been to a wedding there, but I read the website recently and I think it is only around $60 per person (don't quote me on this) and I think it is a rather small venue. It is right on the Long Island Sound in Miller Place. Hope this helps. Good luck!!!

I love my venue...we're having about 50 people and it's $75 per person, no site fee...three course meal from the entire menu, wedding cake included...it's very small and intimate.

We're doing the Winter Garden Pavilion! I absolutely love it...but I think they may need/want a guarantee of around 115.
Is your FH in the country? Cause I'm going to be totally jealous if he is, lol

Oh I was just at your venue's website last night. It looks very nice!! Do you know if the room you are in has a dance floor? Also does the 75 include gratuity or is that additional. Westbuty Manor wants 20% additional but other places only want 15-18 so 20 seems high. Thank you again and congrats!
