I just have to share.--very long
My FH and I are trying to keep costs down everyway we can for the wedding since we are paying for it ourselves.
I thought by making the invitations I would save a bit of money. My FH suggested I go to this discount paper place called Kelly Paper ( I think it is only in California) because the paper would be cheaper there than say staples.
So much to my surprise they have an entire wedding section. With blank sets that include 52 invites, 50 tissues, 50 inner envelopes and 50 outer envelopes and the starting prices were around $48 or so and all the way up to $100.
So I thought wow that wouldn't be so bad buy those and them print them ourselves. But I thought let me go and look for what I came in here for the vellum, paper, etc.. Well I realized the paper that I wanted would be more $$ than the blank pretty invitations and it would save me a lot of sweat shop time making each and every one.
Here is where it gets good. On my way back to the wedding section I saw a clearance nook. I thought well great maybe they'll have cheaper paper here..no such luck. BUT GUESS WHAT I DID FIND. Discounted wedding sets similar to the ones being sold on the other side of the store. But the catch was there were only 1 box of each. I figured if we were doing the printing ourselves we would need a few to play around with. So that wouldn't work.
Just as I am about to leave that section as luck was on my side yesterday I saw these 2 boxes in the back kind of hidden. I pulled them out to look at them and they were really pretty. The design is embossed with a bride and groom looking at candles burning and all over it even leaking onto the inside of the card they had pretty pink roses. And here is the best part they were priced $21 for each box. I thought **** that is a hell of a lot cheaper so I grabbed them and then realized I also needed response cards and wouln't you know it I found a set that included 104 cards with envelopes that matched the design PERFECTLY and they were also on clearance for $14. Is that insane or what?
I just had to share. Even though we don't have the space booked yet nor my dress I did get a great deal on the invites. I was so excited. Anyone who loves a bargin or is on a budget I knew would get a kick out of this story.
Also, if anyone has done this before - printed their own any suggestions would be appreciated.
