that the whole '1 year for people to buy you presents' thing is a myth and not standard etiquette. Both mags say that people have 1 month after you return from your honeymoon to buy gifts. Anything longer than that is rude.

FH has a sister in law who goes around saying she has a year to give gifts and has on numerous occasions gone to weddings and not given anything for months!!!!

It's funny you mentioned this. One of my co-workers keeps saying the same thing. She claims that in the book of etiquette, it says that guests have one year and she keeps joking around that she's not bringing me a gift.
Just out of curiousity, what magazines did you read that in CB? I would love to tell her at work tomorrow.
