that im going to have a real difficult time finding a BM dress that all 5 of my girls will like. Some like 2 piece, some like 1 piece, some dont like strapless... I just want a dress that everyone will like. Im getting the feeling that Im going to have to just pick a dress.

the 1st time i went looking for bm dresses i took all my girls. which was a big mistake on my part who didnt like this who didnt like that .
the other times i went to took my sister who was my moh and WE picked the dress and told the girls where to go to get measured.
either go by yourself or bring just one person with you

You have to realize that no matter what you do you can't please everyone. I took ONE of BM and I picked out the dress and told everyone where to go get measured. It was much easier that way.

Another option would be to have them all wear different dresses in the same color/fabric from the same designer.
I have girls with different tastes as well. I took 2 shopping and, oddly enough, they agreed on the same dress.

i knew id have the same issue....so i said to myself what are the things i want.....
so i knew i wanted stapless and i knew Alfred Angelo was the only maker that i can find who had the color i wanted...or as close as i can find...
so i linked them all the site and told them pick all the strapless ones u like....and link it back too me!
than i narrowed it down from there!

It's great that you want to please all your BMs but it's your day - pick what you like. My BMs wanted to wear long red dresses but I wanted tea length black dresses. After taking them dress shopping and feeling miserable b/c they all had differing opinions, I made an executive decision and went with what I wanted.
You know what? They all looked beautiful and appreciate that they can wear the dresses again.

You probably will just have to pick it out and say DEAL WITH IT! to your BMs... it's difficult but thats what has to be done... Unless you wouldnt mind doing different dresses. Davids bridal can do several different dresses in the same color/material and they look fantastic! Thats up to you though! GL!

Yea I'm taking my sister (MOH) and my two best friends (BM's) and they'll have to agree on something. Everyone else is going to be shown the dress and told to get measured. I know it sounds mean but if you try and please everyone you'll get nowhere!

I went with my MOH and found a couple dresses we liked. Then i came to the realization that my MOH is 12 lbs....so everything looked good on her. A couple of days later i took three of my BM's to try on the dresses we liked.....and EVERYONE (all different shapes and sizes) looked AMAZING in this ONE dress....it was like 'the sisterhood of the Traveling BM's Dress'. I couldn't beleive it! So they all agreed on that one dress. I didnt care what dress they picked out since i'm not wearing it.

i think you should really consider picking a designer, fabric, and color, and letting your BMs pick their own dresses.
It's my belief that everyone should feel as pretty as possible, and the best way to do that is to allow them to pick a dress that fits their style and their body. i just never really understood the whole cookie cutter every-bridemaid-looks-the-same concept. i mean, when i think of my BM's, alot of them have their own looks, and if they were shopping together they wouldn't necessarily buy the same shirt. why doesn't the same thing apply with dresses?
just my opinion, not a commentary on those that decide to do the same dress. i've been in wedding parties where i wore the same dress, and it was fine. I just would have liked to pick something that would have flattered my body better, so i would have looked better in pictuers and felt more comfortable.

I had a tough time with this too, and kept going back and forth between letting them wear different dresses or wearing all the same. I eventually decided to go with something simple that would be flattering on any body type. The dress is just a plain black strapless dress with a sash.
It's nice to try to please everyone, but at the end of the day you have to go with what you like and what makes you happy - including letting them all pick their own dress if that's what makes you happiest.
ETA - I'm in 3 weddings and had no input on the dresses, but that's fine. It's not about me - it's about how the bride wanted her day and her pictures to look. Granted I probably would have gone with something different if I could pick my own dress, but what can you do! You know what you sign on for when you say 'yes' to being a bridesmaid.

I couldn't have said it better. Bridesmaids want to look good too. I cant tell you how many time I've see Bridesmaid with the same dresses on and there is always one that it looks horrible on and you can tell how uncomfortable she is. Save the drama, let the girls pick what they like and just specified designer, fabric, length and color.

What about mix and match dresses. David's bridal and Alfred Angelo make them. A few years ago my friend used the Alfred Angelo dresses and had all get the same bottom and choose our own tops.

It's rare that they all loooooove a dress. Either pick a color and/or designer and let them all choose something OR do what I did, narrowed it down to 3-4 and took a vote until it was down to 1. Majority rules.
