wait you have to fill out an application online? I thought you just go down there?

Re: I just submitted

the 60 days only applies to when you are able to get it prior to your wedding day... not from when you submit your app to when you pick it up

you dont have to do it online... its easier because then all you do is go and pay and pick it up... if you go there then you have to fill out all the forms on the spot

when you do it online, it expires after a certain period (i don't remember how long you have) - you might want to make sure you're okay to go next week ...

Youre right they do give you a limit...

It should tell you when you did it though...

Re: I just submitted

yeah it said it expires after 21 days (the online to the going in to pick it up) so we should be fine!

ang- so do they start counting 60 days when we go pick it up next week? or do they start counting 60 days today because i submitted it online today?

thanks!!!

good! ... for some reason, i thought it was like48 hrs or something and didn't want to say that and freak you out, lol ... we did ours online the night before we went so i didn't pay much attention to that part of it ... and i'm pretty sure you have 60 days from when it's issued ... they put the expiration date on it, right down to the hour ... gotta love NYC, lol ...

the 60 days refers to how soon before the wedding you are allowed to get your marriage lic.

it wont be valid if you pick it up prior to 60 days before your wedding day... and once you pick it up the 60 days doesnt mean anything anymore

Re: I just submitted

some places won't even let you fill the forms out online.

the oyster bay clerk said no.

but seriously, we went to the massapequa clerk and were the only people in there on friday morning. it was awesome.

it took 5 minutes to fill the forms out. easy peasy.

The reason they put down to the hour on is because it has to be at least 24 hours old before the priest, deacon, officiant can sign it and send it to the whomever to process your marriage cert...

Re: I just submitted

in otherwords... your marriage license HAS to be more than 24 hours old and NO MORE than 60 days old ETA: on the day of your wedding.

i'm so confused

i swear i'm not this dumb

ok. lets review.
i submitted our info online. it says i have 21 days to show up in person or we have to resubmit. fine.

next week i go to the city clerk's office, they check our IDs, we pay. then they give us the marriage license.

ok. so from THEN i have to wait 24 hours and I have 60 days to get married or the license expires, right?

EXACTLY... you cant get married within 24 hours of getting your license... and if you wait longer than 60 days it wont be valid either...

right. exactly. my question is: the 60 days start getting counted when we pick up the license IN PERSON - not when I submitted the info online, right?
