All my friends and family keep saying not to bother.
FHs family may disagree but $500 just came off my budget.
I may just get cake boxes so people can take stuff home from the sorta mini viennesse hr.
Hmmm

Posted by allornil Im sorta there too. And what's the deal w jews dont do favors? Seriously 4 people from my family and 3 friends said this.
haha, i'm jewish and i've heard this too. i've actually never been to a jewish wedding and had a favor with the exception of one (the bride was half christian tho)
my sister told me no favors at a jewish wedding and i'm not complaining. one less thing to factor into the budget
Cool! I can blame my family if anyone complains!!!!
Reallyyyy .. I didnt know that! maybe thats why FMIL said I didn't have to do favors for my eparty (even tho they were totally awesome and everyone loved them) going on the things to remember list!

i think that's a great idea and def a way to cut the budget.
i mentioned the idea to my banquet manager and she said that it's a good idea, but it might get messy.

Re: i just took favors out of my budget
I wish I didn't have to do favors, I know I never use them, and I don't know if anyone else does either. I come from a big Italian family, and I swear they wait for the favors at the end of the wedding and then talk about them the next day. I mentioned doing an edible favor to my mother and grandmother, and they both looked at me like I was totally crazy, and told me how could I give cupcakes as a favor? uggh. I will be an outcast in my family if I don't give my guests espresso cups or something from mikasa. They will talk about me for the rest of their lives.

Smart move! If you find the extra $$ later; you can always add it back.

Re: i just took favors out of my budget
We decided not to do favors either. If anything, we may do a small donation to a charity.

Re: i just took favors out of my budget
This is why I originally wanted to do a donation but FH wanted people to take something home with them. I hope most people will use what we are giving them, but I know there will definitely be some that will either forget to take it home, shove it somewhere in the house and forget about it, or just throw it out - which stinks.

Re: i just took favors out of my budget
We will prob do wooden tulips, they come out to like $1 each, and I'll write our names and the date on them. But now I also want a photobooth. I got an FM from party booth and apparently they are cheaper, but it's still a lot of $$ especially when you add in the guest book option, which is what I really want! We barely have a flower budget at this point! I don't think it will be missed by my guests but I think they would have a lot more fun with it and I'd love a guest book with pics! I feel people would be more apt to sign.
